Well if there was any wind last night I certainly did not hear, or see it. The motorways were jam packed this morning, but that's natural for Monday. No blown down trees or collapsed infrastructure. They say that parts of the North should still be on edge, but nothing at all in the South East.

At mid-day today, a young female TV presenter was at Trearddur Bay on the Holy Isle part of Anglesey, where very strong winds were blowing.

The wind is strong up here in Lancashire, not quite gale force but it can be difficult to walk around trees. The doors of my local Tesco failed this lunchtime, and the floor was comparable to that of a forest.
I would say OUR summer was the 2-3 weeks from the 11th of April. I had this perioid in Glasgow, Dundee and Aberdeen and had the most beautiful warm and sunny 2-3 weeks of weather withonly one day of rain. There has been nothing like it since. The odd nice day here and there but mostly bleak, cool and wet.
Fairly windy in Worcester today, paper was getting blown around; conveniently the wind also held the doors open which was good as the codes had just been changed and I am still leaning them. 
Looks like we might be about to get an Indian summer, with temperatures due to hit 77F/25C by midweek. Locally temperatures could be around 15C above average.

Very hot down in south wales, we have a had a bit of a breeze today so it hasnt' been too bad.
Dont think my local shop is complaining though considering home many crates of beer and large bottle of cola have been sold there today.

Not a single cloud today, it hit 27c today and it is currently 25c still!

Typical...moan cos it's a rubbish summer and then moan cos it's too warm! :P
Been a lovely day up in the north - very pleasant outdoors. I may be biased though as I have spent the day in an office in a building with Victorian air conditioning....thick stone walls! So the temperatures indoors were pleasantly cool still (for today at least anyway!)

We are actually having some sunshine in Falkirk - not as warm as down South but just to see the sun in these parts is a revelation - particularly as it is nearly October

On the television this morning, there was a mention that some apple trees were making new blossom at the same time as bearing fully-grown fruit and a picture of this was shown. This is most strange for the end of September.

Talk about yesterday being hot, today was even hotter today. It is currently 28c in Droitwich Spa. I had to play rugby earlier at school in ther scorching heat. :melt:

Was talking to a delivery driver earlier who had made a delivery in the alst day or so to a hardware store round York area I think, of 200 snow shovels in preperation!

I think they have been listening to a certain private forecaster that is being sponsored by a manufacturer of winter tyres!
North of the Border today is the last day of heat-wave, with rain expected after dusk and a steady drop of in temperatures. England (esp. the SE) has 2-3 more days before it cools down.
Beyond that it will certainly be cooler again, but I don't think there is any basis for predicting freezing temperatures and snow - forecasting the weather more than 5 days ahead is a game for stupid people and attention seekers!

In case you didn't get to speak to your son it was another sunny day in Birmingham today although it felt marginally cooler than yesterday.
