The Avro Lancaster was the WWII bomber which got all the publicity, and rather overshadowed the sterling work put in by the Handley Page Halifax.

The A3 through Hindhead and the M74 through Dalmarnock, Glasgow, were both opened recently—same week in fact—after a lengthy construction involving expensive engineering (one's a tunnel and one's a viaduct).

Dalmarnock is the proposed location for the athletes' village when Glasgow hosts the 2014 Commonwealth Games, which in 2002 was held in Manchester, England.

Seeming as Schnellzug got in there first, I shall continue from Manchester. London and Manchester both have orbital motoways (M25 and M60 respectively) that were never intended as they were designed (M25 is a mixture of two ringways due to cut-backs and the M60 was a mass renumbering of motorways M62,M63,M66 etc).

No way , Jose....as they say (Another rhyming quote)

Schnellzug gave Manchester to which I followed with Bootle (see my post)

MK Tom then said he was sticking with Bootle, so that is still the next clue.

Darn you for editing your post.

Bootle is near to where many passenger ferries depart from, as is Harwich.
