Stone in Staffordshire also lies on the line of the River Trent.
Stone is prominent on the beer-brewing scene. The Lymestone Brewery has there, its own pub -- situated adjacent to brewery, on the Mount Industrial Estate in Stone. Pub is named the Borehole Inn -- which bids fair to be a unique pub name in Britain. There are, however, plenty of pubs with the cognate title -- sometimes with various prefixes -- "Well Inn" (shades of the Dormouse's tale in Alice ?). Barnard Castle, County Durham, has an Old Well Inn.

Durham has a prison; likewise Princetown, Devon -- location of Dartmoor prison -- both establishments commemorated in various songs in the folk idiom, to the general effect that there are more agreeable places in which to spend one's time.

Llanybydder in Carmarthenshire also holds a livestock market.
Barrowden, Rutland (between Uppingham and Wansford) lies, also, only just within its county; in each case, it's another county on the far side of the river whereon the settlement is located -- Ceredigion and Teifi, and Northamptonshire and Welland, respectively.

Tixover in Rutland was also once administered by the ancient Hundred of Wrandike.
My late father had a great love of far-fetched and feeble puns, and of making them. He was taken with the name of Tixover (we lived not very far from there): fantasising its being derived from a motor "ticking over". And in the course of a holiday at Broadstairs, he came up with a pseudo-historical tale of the warden of Deal Castle, having found the place uncomfortably cold; so he transferred to the castle of neighbouring Walmer (Kent), because it was "warmer" -- geddit?

The illustrator John Hassall was born.in Walmer. Arguably John Hassall's most famous creation was "The Jolly Fisherman" in 1908, which is regarded as one of the most famous holiday advertisements of all time in the United Kingdom. It was encouraging people to visit Skegness in Lincolnshire.
Skegness is twinned with a town in the German State of Niedersachsen -- Bad Gandersheim (a long way from the sea; there is a town-twinning school of thought which holds that "the less alike and the more seemingly inappropriate, the better"). Bath, Somerset, is twinned with a settlement in the same German State: viz. Braunschweig.

Sarratt in Hertfordshire was also once administered by the Hundred of Cashio,
I often confess to being hard to please re the written word -- have tried the novels of the late John Le Carre, and found that, like most spy fiction, they bore me to tears. At all events: this gentleman's early novels in this genre, feature a fictional "outfit" -- set in factual Sarratt -- an agent-training school and interrogation centre for the British foreign-intelligence service, nicknamed "The Nursery". Le Carre was born in 1931, in Poole, Dorset.

St Agnes in Cornwall also produced a notable style colouring of pottery.
St. Agnes has long been a centre for the idiosyncratic, but widely engaged-in, Cornish style of wrestling. Assorted historical personages -- often with minimal, or no, links with Cornwall -- are told of as having been exponents of Cornish wrestling. Examples are: King Henry VIII; US Presidents Abraham Lincoln, and Theodore Roosevelt; and, of all people, John Wesley -- in his youth, presumably before he turned to more serious doings. Wesley was born in Epworth, Lincolnshire -- a long way from Cornwall.

Withypool in Somerset also lies on the line of the River Barle.
Withypool has one of England's seemingly innumerable pubs named the Royal Oak. This hostelry, dating from the 17th century, has in the past couple of centuries been frequented by assorted folk famous in various walks of life; including Eisenhower when making preparations for D-Day and, earlier, rehearsals for same. Havant, Hampshire, also has a Royal Oak pub; this one, so far as I know, lacking associations with any renowned luminaries.
