This Bontnewydd seems highly obscure vis-a-vis present-day references; although -- "you should forgive me" -- there was a station of that name not far east of Dolgellau, on the Morfa Mawddach -- Dolgellau -- Ruabon line. However; Wales holds something of a variety of Bontnewydds or Bont Newydds: out of those, I'll go for Bontnewydd, Ceredigion -- six miles north-west of Tregaron.

Lavernock in the Vale of Glamorgan also has a church that is dedicated to St Lawrence.
Lavernock has a pub called The Captain's Wife. Further concerning hostelries / eating-places and female spouses: Southport, Merseyside, has a pub / restaurant by the name of Ralph's Wife's (punctuation reproduced exactly as per Net items).

Olaf Stapledon (1886 -- 1950) -- philosopher / upholder of political causes generally on the "left" / science-fiction author -- spent most of his life in the general as-above part of the Wirral; including residing for a spell, in West Kirby. He was educated at Abbotsholme School, near Rocester, Staffordshire.

Sale Moor in Greater Manchester also has a church that is dedicated to St Francis.
All that I can find about Sale Moor, is its being the name of an electoral ward of Trafford; covering the eastern part of Sale, Greater Manchester. Am hoping that it will be acceptable to take Sale, as the venue from which to "associate". Sale has a Water Park -- converted from a gravel pit created by motorway construction -- where water sports, fishing, and birdwatching are "on offer". Kingsbury, Warwickshire -- a little way south of Tamworth -- has a close counterpart, in the shape of its Kingsbury Water Park.

Ningwood on the Isle of Wight was also once administered by the ancient Hundred of West Medine.
The poet John Milton (1608 -- 1674) -- renowned above all, as the author of Paradise Lost -- was a friend of Lady Margaret Ley, who with her husband John Hobson or Hopson, dwelt in Ningwood; Milton made a number of visits to the couple there. For some years from 1635 on, Milton lived in Horton, Berkshire -- a little way east of Windsor.

Sir Christopher Hatton, Lord Chancellor and a great favourite of Elizabeth I despite his Catholicism being thinly veiled, was Lord of the Manor of West Drayton. When it came to building himself a lavish country pile, however, he ignored the fair fields of west Middlesex and opted for Holdenby, Northamptonshire.
"Nomenclatorial association" -- some deliberate, some coincidental -- between the British Isles, and the Los Angeles conurbation in California. The affluent neighbourhood of Holmby Hills in L.A., was named by the millionaire businessman Arthur Letts Sr. (1862 -- 1923), after (with a bit of "tinkering") Holdenby (Northants.) -- his birthplace. A much-more-widely-known L.A. suburb, is Hollywood. Hollywood, Co. Wicklow -- some twenty miles south-west of Dublin -- bears the same name: but it appears that there was no "naming after" in this case. So far as is known, the founder of Hollywood, Ca. -- a little before its attracting the attention of the young film industry -- spontaneously dreamt up the name: he thought it sounded nice; plus, holly is traditionally a "lucky" plant.

Hollywood (Co Wicklow) is associated with the sixth century Saint Kevin (of whom, though a good Catholic boy, I had never heard of until now). St Kevin's Way, a modern pilgrimage route, links Hollywood with Glendalough, Wicklow.

Valleymount in County Wicklow is an alternative starting point on the St. Kevin's Way pilgrim path.
Valleymount is situated on a spit of land extending into the large Poulaphouca Reservoir in the Wicklow Mountains south-west of Dublin: lands formerly surrounding the village, flooded by the reservoir's making. There is a corresponding situation in England (which I've used before in this game, the last time roughly a month ago -- find this one irresistible, re such circumstances): concerns the village of Upper Hambleton, Rutland; which is nowadays located on a peninsula protruding into the reservoir of Rutland Water -- said reservoir having been created some three decades later than Poulaphouca.
