It is recorded that Charles I rested in Titchfield prior to his imprisonment at Carisbrooke Castle, Newport on the Isle of Wight.
Harlech Television was one of the Independent Broadcasting Authority stations that opened up. It programmes were transmitted from the mast at St Hilary, Glamorgan. The mast now broadcasts radio signals, television transmissions ceasing in 1985.

Wensleydale, home of the cheese, is also on the river Ure
but as that was weak linkI have edited it to offer instead Masham , also on the river Ure and home of the Theakston Brewery
