Thetford and its surrounding area were used for the filming of the classic BBC comedy series "Dad's Army"....as well as for the 1971 feature film sequel. The recent remake of the film - starring Toby Jones, Bill Nighy, Bill Patterson and Catherine Zeta-Jones - was filmed in and around Bridlington in the East Riding of Yorkshire.

What's wrong, as a location, with Walmington-on-Sea? (except that it doesn't exist)

I like Latin mottoes that go with settlements' coats-of-arms (the more inane, the better). Bridlington's is Signum Salutis Semper = "always the bringer of good health". That of the London Borough of Hounslow is Iuncti Progrediamur = "let us go forward together".

Agden was formerly a township in the parishes of Bowdon and Rostherne: the latter, a little way to the south of Agden, being properly in the country; it has close to it, Rostherne Mere -- a National Nature Reserve and Site of Special Scientific Interest. The reserve features much of interest to naturalists; including incidence of the tiny and now decidedly rare lesser spotted woodpecker, Dryobates minor comminutus. Another reserve where one has a good chance of encountering this bird, is Blean Woods Nature Reserve, near Blean, Kent (between Canterbury and Whitstable).

Oddities concerning village greens: the lake Llyn Maelog, very close to Rhosneigr -- circled by a footpath (and a Site of Special Scientific Interest), became in 2011, the first lake in Wales to be classified as a village green -- ??? The village green of Drumnadrochit, Highland -- on the western shore of Loch Ness -- is planted with flowers in such a way as to create a map of the village.

Towns in Wales with more-commonly-used English-style names which are shortened / worn-down forms of the Welsh name -- Tenby's Welsh name is Dinbych-y-pysgod (= "fortlet of the fish", which I find rather delightful). The Welsh name of Lampeter (Ceredigion), is Llanbedr Pont Steffan.

Romsey in Hampshire is also twinned with a settlement in the French departement, in Brittany, of Cotes d'Armor (formerly Cotes du Nord). Aberystwyth's "twin" is St. Brieuc; Romsey's is Paimpol. (Incidentally, the two Breton settlements were opposite termini of a delightful metre-gauge line which lasted until 1956: remnant of a once much bigger m/g system which ranged far and wide through the departement.)

The organ had originally been built in 1916 for a church in London, which was bombed in the Second World War.
