Also do they have an agreement in place with First or Abellio for the sale of tickets?
Given that it appears in the Journey Planners I don't see that people would think it had gone away.

There is a page on the site referring to railcards
http://webcache.googleusercontent.c...imetables/railcards+&cd=4&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=uk
That website isn't presently public...the public one is:
http://caledoniansleeper.info/
Interesting that there are different logos - I prefer the one at the above site.

Ignoring Railcards for a minute, I have wondered if they'd take it out of the national fares system. It's something that is otherwise quite hard to sell online, and is relatively stand-alone - so would it not be easier if it was completely separate?
Perhaps, at a push, a separate site could allow you to book a supplement to an existing ticket, itself purchased via normal sales channels.
It could also then be 100% e-ticketed.
Neil
Can you buy berths through other TOCs sites? I didn't think you could and that it had to be done through ScotRail.
is there a link to buy tickets after scotrail finish
I think you're right, but the services do still exist in the Journey Planner, they aren't just hidden.
Neil
--- old post above --- --- new post below ---
You can buy them from ScotRail for after their franchise finishes at present.
Neil
The availability of berths is NOT hidden, at least on Mixing Deck planners. These block it and refer you to ScotRail.
They aren't a known company for this type of service
I also take slight issue with this - they have significant expertise in it in Australia, which was part of their bid (The Ghan etc). I think the Government's take is to monetise it a bit more by appealing it to tourists - the business travellers will use it regardless, but won't fill it midweek to the same extent (the biggest number of business passengers are weekly commuters, I believe, so down on Sun-Mon and back on Thurs-Fri with Friday from home/a local office).

And, it should be pointed out, Great Southern Rail is not purely a tourist operation but also a part of the state and national transport systems and a recipient of the appropriate public funding to allow regional residents affordable fares on shorter sectors with the GSR interstate trains being shown as part of the V/Line and NSW Trainlink timetables.I also take slight issue with this - they have significant expertise in it in Australia, which was part of their bid (The Ghan etc). Like I said we clearly are not going to agree. I'm not going comment any further after this post on the matter. I'm sorry we do not agree and have different views, however I have neither time, energy or inclination to enter into a slanging match with someone on an Internet forum.
Is there some kind of timescale for the new operator to brief existing staff as to their plans?
Seem to think I saw twelve weeks mentioned somewhere?
Rumour is the Train Managers are to be re branded as Train Captains and issued with smoking jackets and nifty Inverness capes - I'll try to get a link to any images shortly.

Looks just the sort that could assist Serco in defrauding the taxpayer in the nicest possible way - whilst pretending to be a 'train captain'!
Anyway aren't captains naval? Perhaps they should be addressed with 'hello sailor'?
wonder if the other Abellio group Toc staff will also enjoy sleeper staff travel given Serco' s relationship with the Dutch ?
