Doctor did say on the day absolutely no worries and I should get a start date in a few weeks as they will have everything sent over by next week. The conductor on my train home also said that they would’ve said during if there was a fail in it somewhere

In the meantime, could anyone please advice me on what a train driver shift looks like?

Doesn't have to be 100% correct but something just to give me an idea. How long is a shift? How many rest days do they get? Do they get to return home after each shift? Or are there times they would need to sleep over at hotels cus their next shift is returning from where they ended their last shift? Etc

We are at almost 2 in 4 Sundays and you're almost definitely working them. As our depot gets younger there are more and more people who value their time off and volunteers for Sundays are getting rarer and rarer. The work is always covered but the spares are always used up now as well.

At my depot, other than during the emergency timetable, I have never worked a Sunday. Been qualified over 3 years.

Every depot is different. I've got virtually no chance of getting off a booked Sunday.

Hi folks,

I looked into applying in 2023, spoke to recruitment team who said to sign up for the job alerts so I did that. In typical fashion, I did not receive an alert in early 2024 and completely missed the boat (or train) this time around.

Does anyone reckon they will open up to applications again anytime soon? I am looking to make a career change and move on from my current role ASAP basically as things aren't great and there is the risk of potential redundancies in the summer. I appreciate from reading this thread that this can be a fairly long process, however if I was successful and knowing I had this on the horizon at some point in time I could probably hack it out in my current role until such a time came to pass (providing I wasn't at risk of redundancy of course!). I e-mailed the recruitment team recently who just said to keep an eye out this time.

I emailed Matheus and asked and he stated that my provisional start date was 29/05/2025 so I would defo email him to find out!

My medical was on the 6th February as well, not heard anything re medical or start date so your luckier than me!

Medical was pretty straight forward mate. Eyesight, hearing test, ecg, urine test, and then height and weight taken. Was in and out pretty quickly and no dramas. Just need to wait for the lab results of urine test to come back which will be fine. Hopefully hear soon!

Three computer test first, if you pass them, then you sit the MMI.
interview was approx 1h15mins for me.

I think i did okay , Got distracted on the first set of tones as someone knocked there pens off the table so that didn't help

I done mine a few months ago & passed now awaiting start date after medical.

What I was told was to research scotrail etc as a company, so spend ages in doing this, but the interview was completely different, more just a normal interview with a couple of situational questions.

Just be yourself and you’ll be fine
