I think most of it will be at corkerhill for Glasgow Central trainees ( traction course) . And I’m assuming when it comes to the practical handling with instructor that will be at my depot.
The training train/traction practical handling is done with a trainer from Atrium Court and at that stage could be anywhere because you are 100% under their instruction so you are allowed to drive any route they are passed out for. You start with a driving instructor from your own depot once you have been signed off by the Training Academy and that only happens after you have done the training train/traction bit. The sign off to go out with your DI is literally the last day of your initial course at Atrium Court.

How did folk generally do with the gauges/fault prioritisation test at the first assessment centre?

I felt as though I was making good time but still only got two-thirds of them done in the time.

I was exactly the same.. Thought at the time that I was flying through them and only did around 70%.
Ended up passing anyway

Has anyone been unable to attend an interview date they've been given and if so, what happened? Were you able to reschedule?
I was told last July I had been successful in my assessment and my next stage would be an interview. I informed them of dates I was unavailable as I would be working overseas and they booked me on one of those dates. I am due to finally interview next week so about 13 months later!

I done this test and MMI other week and passed. And it’s a fairly accurate representation that you have gave. Good work and helpful for those still to do this.
Congrats! My MMI is looming. I understand the questions follow a similar pattern/content, but can't for the life of me find them on the forum. Any chance you could DM me or point me at an approximate list? TIA.

I’m the same, I’ve got my MMI next week. I was one of the ones though that done the computer tests first before any interviews. Can you dm me mate if you don’t mind?

Have you tried the search function? You will find what you need to know about the MMI and STAR format in this thread, and more generally on the forum for other TOCs etc.

I believe that the assessments and MMI are conducted entirely the same, barring various enhanced standards between TOCs, across the country as it’ll be run by a 3rd party and not Scotrail itself. So any tips on here for MMIs in general should help you as well.

ScotRail do all the train driver assessments including the MMI in house at their own center run by their own HR staff. Although from what I've read here it's all done to exactly the same standard as OPC in England & Wales but in Glasgow it's definitely carried out by ScotRail itself not OPC.

The questions I was asked last year were:

1) Describe a time when you had to follow rules and procedures
2) Give an example of a time when you've had to work hard to achieve something
3) Describe a task or role you have undertaken that shares similarity with the train driver role
4) Describe a time you had to do something where it was very important not to make a mistake
5) Describe a time you had to do something in the face of difficulty
6) Describe a time when you had to deal with an emergency

ScotRail only requires the national standard for train driver assessment rather than enhanced standards like other train companies down south.

Unlucky man! I wouldn't let it get you down too much mate. I failed the DMI at my first attempt and start my training next week. Keep your chin up and go for it again 100%.
Hey did you have to start fully from the start? I think the dots mightve caught me out and I didn't meet the first assesment standard :( they have said re apply in six months from initial date. Hoping it's just apply for another assessment date.

When have people received their joining instructions? I am due to start my online induction this Thursday (18th Sept), and I haven't received anything yet. I got my contract last week.

Thanks

That's incredible. Hope someone can clarify this for you and you get them soon!

I have a course in November. Submitted my contracts last week but I've been told they need a little more info despite completing everything asked.

Totally appreciate they are busy but the communication has been really poor.

I'll be so relieved once I get them and my hotel confirmation mate!

I sent mine back on 10th but I haven't had anything back as of yet so thinking it must of been ok.

November will be here before you know it mate.

Hey all, had my MMI interview today at 9:30am. Was only one interviewer in the room. Followed the STAR method as much as I could. Best of luck to anyone else who have their interview this week!

Hi, I have had all my right to work documents requested but no start date, has anyone experienced this? Just wondering if they’ve missed an email at all

They must have a date sorted for you I would think. I don’t think they would be asking for information like that if a start date wasn’t already set. Maybe worth sending them an email over and asking the question.

Hey mate, I’ve got mine coming up. Did they deviate from the 6 questions at all? You can dm me if it’s easier

I feel like I’ve sent so many emails it’s seems the communication isn’t great for anyone, I’ll send another one over
