I've noticed a couple of 158s have also started appearing at GLC during the daytime. Are these coming over from Edinburgh on the increased Shotts line frequency?

Yes, these are crewed by edinburgh though glasgow central will work them shortly too. There's just not enough 156's to go round, with the twice hourly kilmarnock service now in operation.

Thanks! The destination screen at the rear of one departing train read 'Dunblane' the other day, which confused me even more...

I have heard that the Class 314 will remain in service until 2019 with some sort of refresh due soon .

Wikipedia claims that the 334s and 320s have been confirmed to be next to get the new livery. Any truth to this?

Has the 156 repainting scheme come to an end? Personally I'm not sure about the new livery reminds me of DRS mk3s. Very dark blue and all them lines all over the place... eugh

Haven't heard anything of repaints in a while, however there's still a great many in Carmine and Cream.

Discussion on scot-rail.co.uk forum about next groups. It is suggested that
Class 320 will commence at Doncaster from November 2010.
Class 334 also soon - possibly Springburn [before new Airdrie-Bathgate line opens].

Interestingly, I saw a PDF file on Transport Scotland's site that showed wee diagrams of trains in the new liverly, including the 314s.

A lot more than I realised- obviously this hasn't been updated in some time. Just 7 outstanding then. I take it no internal refresh is being carried out despite the interior getting on a bit now? I have never travelled on these units so cant judge. If these are being repainted it is an improvement on the predominately vinyled FSR barbie look of which I have noticed faded/missing lines and peeling vinyl
--- old post above --- --- new post below ---
I also wonder if the Wessex liveried 158s will see any refurbishment aside from the tempoary upholstery fix. If they are due to stay with FSR perhaps a repaint into the new livery

I don't think they're planning to do the interiors, at least not for a while anyway. They're not that bad inside though. Still comfortable enough, and a welcome sight after a hard day at college.

This is to be expected considering the new airdrie-bathgate link is only 6 months or so away.

Yes the 334s and 320s will be the next to get the saltire livery with the 320s getting a substantial upgrade including toilets and a speed upgrade to 90mph from 75mph. This will also include the new livery and an internal refresh.

334s should receive the new livery Im not sure on any internal work.

With Gaelic at random stations! Carntyne, Shettleston and Easterhouse (those areas with huge numbers of Gaelic speakers  ) all have Gaelic translations on the signs for some reason. Strangely, Garrowhill and Blairhill do not seem to warrant such signage and only have the English.

I think Sunnyside also has Gaelic signage, but I only saw that driving past the station today so I did only get a quick glance. I decided looking at the road was a better idea in this instance.

Why oh why oh why? Fair enough in the highlands but of little consequence in the lowlands, where it was not spoken except by displaced highlanders. It is nice the stations are getting freshened up though, they are fair getting through them.

According to the Railway Herald 156445 carries the Gaelic translation of the ScotRail slogan, the first unit to do so.

:D Think if Sunnysidem got a gaelic translation the sign would need fitted between two lamp-posts!

They have Coatdyke finished. all painted up.

All station signs from now on will be in gaelic and english. New ScotRail policy expect new timetables and literature to also be both.

Yet another amazing waste of taxpayers cash and a debatable use of a minority language that has little relevance outwith the west highlands and island.

Agreed. Plus, they've already done plenty stations without it. Now it's going to be like most of the network that's having it, and random stations throughout that doesn't.

So much for that uniform look.

Another few bits of vinyl on a sign will hardly break the bank. Good to see this is being done.

First time I've ever seen this. It was headed to East Kilbride along with one or two sisters.
