A light engine has left Tyne yard for NA, so maybe tonight's delivery is on.

I've just left Waverly and counted around 9 or so 170s just kicking around at the Haymarket depot. Looks like we're all about electrics now.

“We” most certainly are not! ;)
Maybe “we” could stop using 2 car 158s on Aberdeen services!!!

I notice the 385s have had brand new PIS announcements recorded (changes include the announcer saying ‘We’ll soon arrive at’ instead of ‘We are now approaching’ and announcing the full name of stations - ‘EDINBURGH Haymarket, Glasgow Queen Street HIGH LEVEL’ etc).

Will this new system be retrofitted to all other ScotRail units with PIS?

The asymmetrical look would probably be 99% solved if they simply repositioned the other side numbers above the electrification warning stripe.
This has already been done on the 3 car 385003 that was in passenger service today. So guess its a matter of getting time and new numbers. Pity it was the 4 car 385104 that appeared on the TV news on Monday, which had not been done. The two sets have been reformed overnight for the passenger service today. With 385003 at the Glasgow end, the First class of 385104 in the middle and then the rest of the set at the Edinburgh end.

How many 385s with the modified windows will Scotrail have after this? How are they getting on with the modification to the windows on the units which had already been delivered?

The latest sets from Newton Aycliffe have been fitted before delivery. The ones that have already been delivered are being retrofitted at Craigentinny, at a rate of one a day. Presumably with labour from Springburn.

What' s needed now more than anything is mileage on the sets. Before they can enter service.

This will eventually be the cause of many complaints having the First class end coupled to another unit. Cant imagine the politicians and big wig lawyers etc being pleased with folk traipsing through the First class section whilst attempting to avoid the Guard!!!

Some of the reason the twitter posts are mainly positive is that Alex Hynes/Scotrail/Hitachi etc are retweeting or quote tweeting only the positive ones they've come across which is understandable.
As an example, a guy on the 1st train to run in passenger service did about 8 tweets - 6 were positive and got retweeted, 2 were negative or slightly negative and didn't get retweeted.
The negative ones, 1 mentioned the seats being uncomfortable and hard and 2 mentioned the interior passenger display screens flickering if viewed from the side - I assume a bit like a video shows the destination screens flashing on and off.

Yeah, I tweeted positively and it got retweeted by ScotRail and Hitachi, and viewed thousands of times! I did notice the flickering screens too, and I'm not too sure about the seats as yet. The shape is fine, but they're far too firm. The 365 I was on this morning felt more comfortable.

Nothing new there, and some folk will probably prefer a seat with no window when they do work on a laptop due to the sun

Just womdered if anyone has a technical reason the pantographs on these units face the opposite way to every other Scotrail EMU? ie the knuckle is at the coach end normally but these are the other way around?

On Tuesday and Wedneday there were three pairs of 365s, three 380s (two pairs, one single), one pair of 385s and a pair of 170s. 365513+365533 were at Shields on Tuesday evening.

I am with you there. Tonight's 1744 to alloca reduced to 2 car 158 with no air con. Saw one unused seat. Went to use it to find it was broken. Train was like a sauna.ticket inspector apologized over tannoy. Just not good enough. Why were some of the 170s not re tasked?

The light engine movement was cancelled 'due to scheduling issues', ie not 'at the request of the customer' which it usually says.
The actual set movement hasn't yet been cancelled, it's possible they're trying to reschedule?

Had a trip on one today, pleasant enough.

Disappointingly was late and chased down a diesel stopper at Edinburgh Park and followed an Aberdeen to GLQ in on the west side when I was looking forward to it recovering from 10 down.
