The 170 middle cars to XC, who I heard would then give LM the remaining 2 car ones as XC then wouldn't need 2x170 on some diagrams

That would actually be a really good idea! After some headscratching over what the London Midland fleet is going to look like once the 172s are delivered and the 170/6 centre cars have gone, I was suddenly worried about issues with 2 carriage Turbos on the Birmingham to Hereford/Shrewbury runs, those trains get busy even with a three car unit. If LM get the remaining 6(?) XC two car 170s, that would solve some problems.

It would make sense that EMT would get the 153s, although thinking about it, the Birmingham-Rugeley service would be largely unchanged by the new 172 delivery so there would still be a need for 153s on that route at least.

Why does anythig go to XC when they wont even use the HSTs they have, XC were promised nothing in the RS Plan LM should lose all 72 150's, gain 69 172's with an a on order for 26 more 172,s
Now LM give up only 48 150's perhaps, I refer to my previous post

But the fact they don't use their HSTs has nothing to do with the ex Central routes unless a HST could fit in Attenborough...?

Yes they were. It appeared in both the Jan 2008 original and the July 08 update.

It lists 6 carriages, and the first link add a bit of detail.

  • Cross Country franchise is already committed to introducing forty additional vehicles with the introduction of five High Speed Train sets. Additional DMU vehicles would provide additional capacity around Leicester.

Maybe somthing goes to XC, points taken from previous posts re 6 vehicles leicester etc.
But as another said it all depends on when LM get the 172's, when might that happen with all the delays at Derby
