FCC GN could have coach 1 AND 4 for a 365, coach 2 or 3 for a 317 and now coach 1 OR 4 for a 321.

I don't think you need bother about the 317s but they should sort out the lone 321 that will screw things up!

407, 409 & 420 have all been dragged to Hornsey, so expect to see them heading up to Doncaster in the coming months.

This leaves only 4x 321s still in Store at Eastleigh - 2 more of which will be heading to FCC (418 & 419)

418 & 419 got dragged to Hornsey on April 1st - so FCC now have there full allotment of 13x 321s.

All 319/3s in FCC livery. Are there any 319/4 in FCC livery but unrefurbished still? When will work start on Southern 319/0 and 319/2?

I think at the last count the /4s that have been re-livered but not refurbished were;
319429
319431
319438
319439
319443
319444
319445
319447

There were some /3s that got painted but not refurbed at Wolverton (372/373?) but these have since been kitted out at Hornsey so any of these /4s could potentially follow suit.

will the loaned ATW 150s on hire to FGW be returned to ATW when FGW recieve the LO and LM 150s?
And will ATW ever repaint the Wales and Borders 158s?!

ATW is fitting their Class 158 trains with equipment for the ERTMS system trials and introduction.

This causes either one or two units to be out of service.

It is believed that once this program is completed, the 158 repaint will recommence.

The following comes from "Yahoo groups":
ARRIVA
ERTMS mods continue at Crewe
158830 (unit 20) on hand, arr 25-3-10
158831 (unit 21) on hand, arr 5-4-10
Leaves only 158828, 158835 and 158840 as outstanding.

Thus it is possible after the final 3 units are completed that the relivery will recommence.

Some of the /0s received new seat moquettes and (I think) refreshed toilets some last year, some were painted/vinyled in FCC colours (or just decals) and some got both. The /2s only have FCC decals; I don't know the order in which (and when) the outstanding units will be finished off.
I think at the last count the /4s that have been re-livered but not refurbished were;
319429
319431
319438
319439
319443
319444
319445
319447

That is correct, although 445 has since gained a refreshed interior (bit of a rush job given that some of the previous moquette is still present in the First Class compartment, as were bits of new carpet fluff).

430 is still silver.

Thanks for that. Has the FGW HST buffet car refurbishment been completed and how many will recieve mini buffets. Are there photos of both types of refubished buffet?

Just read this- has this happened?

On the 'refreshed' Class 158s, tables have been removed from the back of seats. Was this in error and are they to be replaced?
Tables are to be replaced – the first raft of refreshed vehicles entered service without them and this was an error. The rest of the fleet will be refreshed according to the programme and tables will be included. The first raft will be returned post completion of programme to be retro fitted.

It's from the FGW website but looks like rather old news. It is interesting it was a mistake though so you would have thought it would have subsequently been amended. Take it the old seating is still table free then

I've just read that Hornsey (FCC) are now working on 319220, so it's only a matter of time. It also appears that the lot will be done this August.

Post on yahoo groups informs:

Here is a copy of the posting from MRC made a few minutes ago on Uk Modern;

It is a while since I updated this. We are now at the halfway mark for these units going through Wabtec, but as usual units still in Silverlink livery unless stated otherwise.

321401-404 FCC livery in traffic;

321405 in traffic with FCC;

321406 FCC livery in traffic;

321407 store Hornsey;

321408/409 FCC livery store Hornsey;

321410 in traffic with FCC;

This adds 321409 to those in FCC livery.

Summary in FCC: 321401-404/406/408-409.

About half of them are also in reverse formation, which given that the current information system on the GN side can't announce the location of first class!

Ah I thought 321405 was in FCC livery as well must be mistaken,.

On subject of FCC is the 319/4 interior referbishment progressing as 9 remained with Thameslink interior with one still in Thameslink livery? I read somewhere refresh had started with at least one unit showing signs of a quick treatment? As to 319/0 and 319/2s I wonder why these are not always being finished in FCC livery?

Similar livery update of 319/0 and 319/2 would be appreciated

My count has not changed for quite a while:

12 units still in Southern livery operating Thameslink services:
319008
319009
319011
319012
319013
319214
319215
319216
319217
319218
319219
319220

and 1 - 319430 in Thameslink silver/blue.

Any advice from those in the know would be valuable - are there plans for a relivery, or might they stay in Southern livery?

From thejunction.org.uk:

321410 has been transferred to Ilford for a repaint into First Capital Connect livery, noted on 7th August.

Correction:

From thejunction.org.uk:

It transpires that 321410 is only at Ilford (as noted in the previous update) for a C4 exam rather than a repaint.

Now confirmed in FCC livery : 321418/419, and probably at Wolverton in November 321405.

Still noted in Silverlink livery are: 321407/410/420.

Updates valued.

Southern liveried [FCC operated] 319215 wears all over livery for Switzerland tourism.

FGW should soon be returning Class 150 to ATW and Class 142 to Northern, having received 5 additional Class 150 from Overground and more to come when LM receive Class 172 units.

FGW 150127 [ex silverlink] now in FGW simple blue base and pink doors livery.

ATW loans 2 units per day on a rotational basis - removed from list.

Haven't ALL the 'new' 313s for FCC been done? Actually, I'm not sure how many they've got (or if they're getting more) but I've certainly not seen any in the old livery, except when they were at Hornsey depot. The last of the 321s were also done before going into service, so I'm fairly sure that on the GN side there are NO trains that aren't done.

BTW, why did the 321s not get the standard FCC graduated colours and just a solid blue/purple? They look fine, but I'm sure the old/original style would have too - and been more consistent on the GN side. I guess the same question could be asked of the 377/5s on TL for the same reason.

The Hire-ins kept the internal branding but the external liveries on 150278 + 150281 were removed! 158841 is staying in silver until 158840 comes out of crewe LNWR completely refurbed inside and out, 841 is rumoured to be in second at the end of feb!

Yeah thought I saw some with Arriva branding removed working FGW turn presume they have been rebranded.

Very excited about the ATW 158s even if it is in fact 158840 first!

I think it's because the vinyls are especially designed for a specific class because of the characteristics of the bodywork, and the design for the class 313 was already available.

Because the solid blue/purple will be quicker and cheaper to do, requiring less skill on the part of the paint spray-gun operators.

To be honest, I reckon it looks smarter anyway.

Is it paint and not vinyl then? I was sure the whole thing was one set of vinyl (well long bits stuck together), with the FCC specific stuff (name and the city lights bit) stuck on top again (thus making it possible to remove the branding later on).

As a result, whatever is on the side of the train is merely whatever was printed out. Thus, FCC has made the decision to change the design.

(Actually, I think the 377s were painted in purple weren't they - but I still think the 321s are vinyl).

First Groups newer liveries are a mixture of paint & vinyl...

As in the case of FCC & FGW - on most units, the bodysides are rubbed down, any repairs carried out if required, then repainted into First Groups Blue before the addition of whichever vinyl necessary - Local Lines, Dynamic Lines or City Lights...

In most cases the vinyl’s will already come in several pre-printed large panels -take the Mk3 Based unit - the middle sections vinyl panels will come in as little as 4 panels, to which the vinyl supplier will usually fit - usually companies like 3M...In the case of the 165/166 fleet, they were not repainted - just rubbed down and re-vinyled and repainted where necessary - ie front panel, window frames etc...

321 / 377 / HST Fleets - Full rubdown & repaint, with a simpler smaller vinyl section placed on the bodyside instead - Perhaps it's First Groups more Intercity-er type livery?

Something else has also come to my attention recently on several forums about FGWs 150127 appearing in plain blue & rubine red - Im in no doubt that it will be reliveried like all other Local Lines / West Of England 150s - Because, so far only 150121 & 127 have had a partial refreshes, and to re to someone’s comments about the local lines vinyl’s not in production anymore - Why? All it is is a vinyl, to which the artwork can be stored on a computer anytime and reprinted when required - FCC's City Lights livery is still printed for the 313s, so why should the Local Lines vinyl’s be any different!

We might be living in a Sticky Back Plastic / Blue Peter style railway these days, but at least the vinyl’s are cheap & easy to replace – in case of vandal attack etc & provide a fairly quick way of any FOC & TOC to spread their brand across there respective fleets in a cheap, quick and cost effective way…

So there’s abit of my knowledge for you - if you want to read up on it or see some, the railway magazine were following some teams from 3M i think in a couple of issues ago - As part of FCC's 319 refurbishment at Wolverton Works.
