Too far in the wrong direction.

Second hint: It was the North Eastern Region's second major resignalling scheme after York, which was completed in 1949 (although both were planned by the LNER before WW2).

Imagine roughly how long it would take for the regional S&T engineering teams and contractors to undertake a major resignalling scheme at a large station and its surrounding area once they had completed their previous similar scheme at York in 1949....assuming that most of the design work for both schemes had been completed pre-war by the LNER.

Wye signal box which closed in 2003 was last year dismantled for reuse at the Helston Railway. The next box along the line at Chilham which closed in the late 1960s also finished up on a heritage railway. Which railway?
