Well, Liverpool Street to Chingford, Enfield Town via Seven Sisters, Cheshunt and Romford to Upminster are the most recent lines to transfer to London Overground operation.

Yes - although not for the reason you stated. The Drain was part of BR until it was transferred to LT ownership - making it the newest part of the Underground... Albeit on a technicality

You see an obstruction on the line that is just out of sight to the driver of an approaching train. You do not have any flags, lights or similar to wave to warn the driver. There is no way of contacting the signaller and in any case the train has just passed the last signal protecting the affected stretch of track.

First of all, the train is not fit for service!
Assuming that the cab to shore radios were out of action, I would flash my lights in such a way as to attract attention

Sorry - let's make this clearer... you're not the driver of another train; you are a member of staff or a knowledgable member of the public on a platform. You can see the approaching train and the obstruction, but the driver cannot see the obstruction.

I had in mind a different arm signal, but if a driver comes on here and confirms they'd accept that as a STOP! warning from a member of the public, then the floor is yours.

Jump up and down, wave your arms, anything to attract attention. Any driver worth his or her salt is going to start braking. Imagine you were driving a car along a road came around a bend and saw someone dong the same - what would you do?

Very much dependent on how much time there is but if you were on a platform- use the emergency phone -Say 'this is an emergency call', where the location of the obstruction is and that trains need to be stopped immediately. Message should get very quick to the signaller who will then send a GSMR Stop message.
As previously said above plenty of waving, ideally with anything red as well. I started putting the brake in back last autumn when I could see something red being waved about on a platform in the distance. Turned out to be a member of platform staff moving some leaves with a snow shovel with a huge red plastic head!- should never have been on the station as the official ones have white or black scoops.

Come to think of it, the doors between carriages on 150s can be slammed. With the withdrawal of 1st generation DMU stock, might the 150s be considered the last slammers in Manchester?

Bingo - because the doors in the private sections at cab ends are slam door operated, Northern crews sometimes call them "Slammers"

Whch location, prior to nationalisation, was served by the GWR and the LNER, but not by any other railway company ?
