A LSWR railway station that closed to passenger services in October 1966 under the control of BR Western Region. The station had a double barrel name as it served two villages, but these villages were in different counties, what was its name(s)?

Kirklees Light Railway?

Whilst Kirklees is on the route of a former standard gauge line, the Light Railway is still alive and kicking so is not a "former railway" in itself. Thus it and its Cuckoos Nest doesn't meet the criteria of the question. A good try nevertheless.

I'll have a guess at the former Polegate to Eridge line, known as the Cuckoo line, it was nicknamed this by drivers, because a lady would release a cuckoo at the annual fair in April at Heathfield, therefore would be the first release in spring of a cuckoo.

Where might you have found another junction whose name continued the ornithological theme? What was its title, and who has written a recent piece of music based on it?
