Hi. This is a current dispute on the train rather than a prosecution (hopefully)
I’m on the 17:45 from Glasgow to Edinburgh. I bought my ticket from lner.co.uk and it happily sold me an off peak ticket for this train with connection to the LNER Service from Edinburgh at 18:35. When I boarded the train, the announcement said the train was peak, so I immediately went to find the guard(?) to confirm. He was clear it was a peak train and my ticket is not valid, but the doors are now closed. What I don’t understand is how I should have known this - I am not a regular user on this route.
The printed ticket has an 8f restriction code and this mentions nothing about an afternoon peak: https://www.nationalrail.co.uk/ticket-types/validity/8f/
If I look at the same journey for tomorrow from scotrail.co.uk, the website would happily sell me an off peak ticket for the 17:45 train.
What have I missed?
My travel details are:
Leuchars to Glasgow changing at Haymarket.
9:22 from Leuchars this morning, 17:45 back just now.
