Parked nonchalently in a retail park local to us. Interior was equally immaculate. 1989/F Mk4 Escort RS turbo Its driver was a young chap. Kudos to him.

Now that is a set of wheels; my ideal car in 1989. From memory they were about £12k new back then (£50k in today’s cash). Worth not far off that now in mint condition.

A Mk3 RS Turbo - white, with blue decals - is not too far from us; I've yet to photo' it, as it passed me each time whilst I was driving.

Found a very similar one to the black 1989 version for sale for £40k.

Hmmm, that second bottle probably will be past its peak if left beyond this evening. ;)

That's very tidy. It's good to see younger folk having an interest in these cars.

The sporty Escorts were never really on my wanted list. I had a Fiesta 1.1L and would have liked an XR2, but my preference would have been an XR4i.

A slightly weathered Mustang parked in the main piazza in Stia, Tuscany, at lunchtime today. I'm not sure how old it was....the Italian ZB registration indicates a vehicle that has been imported from abroad.IMG_20261004_131410.jpgIMG_20261004_131326.jpg

My Uncle had one, I had not seen him for years and rocked up to a funeral in one. So my brother & I greeted him outside and it was all car talk, nothing about his deceased!

My former neighbour in Overton had four or five pre World War 2 Austins of various kinds. The oldest was from 1924, and after he got it he almsot completely dismantled the engine and the body in order to carry out a thorough restoration. I'm not sure if he still has all of them as he developeed some health problems after we moved.

His car for normal use was a Saab from about 1978, and his wife had a Rover 600 (the model based on a Honda) from about 1994.

The question being why and how are they still on the public highway?

Looking at their age they will be classed as historic vehicles with the DVLA which entitles them to free roadtax and MOT exemption and providing the owner has them currently insured then they are ok to be parked on/used on a road but in this case they certainly ain't getting used.

Thanks, surely they need to be registered though to be entitled to free road tax, I may be misreading the Jags number plate but YGO322, YGU322 and YGD322 all come up as 'vehicle not found'

Yes I agree that they must be on the DVLA system to benefit and I did do the same as you before posting and came up with the same results but I have had that before with older vehicles !

Maybe @dcbwhaley can capture the other cars registration next time he passes and see if same results appear as they do for the Jag ?
