That is really bad if true. How did Northern get the Unions to agree with that one?

Because the payrise was in January...

Union agree'd it because it was early... but also had to agree to then wait 16 months for the next one in 2014.

West internals keep their salary if higher....

East is £19.8k training (or keep the same salary if internal - this is massively higher for some grades ) then on passing out, straight onto £45k or whatever it is after the Apr 2013 pay rise.

Hi Bev - are you sure about this?
I'm going through the process at the moment for an Eastern depot vacancy and I was under the impression it was staggered pay increases for the first two years or so...

I obviously hope you're right though!

myself and several others asked about this and got told 100% confirmed that we would drop salary to the internal training rate if transferred to mainline, unless we go East

East now stagger the pay.

Always had done since ATN days. First year PQA rate was about 80% of the full salary. After 1st anniversary it rose to full rate.

At the time the franchise was to be in its last 12 months and a better deal could be made by agreeing to the second part coming in early.

(This was before the WCML farce stopped the job).

Got the thanks, but no thanks e-mail the other day :( Bad times!

An internal job has come up at my place for a TM, might consider that!

Hi all,

first time post.

Passed the visual comparison test and have got an interview next week at Picc.
Anyone ITK about what sort of interview this is and the kind of questions to expect. I assume it's fairly generic at this early stage?

Also, it says to report to 2nd Floor, North Block and ask for the Driver Team Managers Office.
Where is this exactly, not sure where the North Block is? Is it in the main station itself or is it another building. Google doesn't seem to know.

thanks.

Hi,

If I type out any more Northern Rail Manager interview advice my keyboard will wear out - so check this thread:

http://www.railforums.co.uk/showthread.php?t=69259

Also, congrats for beating the vast majority of other candidates to get to this stage. The Northern block is the tall building on the corner of the concourse near to platform 1 IIRC. Not sure how they expect you to get up to the DTM office on the 2nd floor however, as it's staff only and a keycode or fob is required for entry. I suggest arrive early and try and get a willing Northern employee in uniform to help you out.

Best of luck,

thanks for the response, sorry I didn't find the previous advice in my search attempts.
Seems weird having interview in a building that's not accessible, assume that can't be right!

I can confirm thats the correct building; I had an interview there 18months ago. I just hijacked somebody from Northern to take me up. They are all really helpful anyway :)

Well done mate, in terms of finding the building, go to station reception and they will let them know that you are there, they then took me to the entrance and somebody came down to pick me up.

Has anybody else heard? Not wanting to be too negative but my experience is that the successful candidates hear first and the rest next.

Nice one mate.:D

I'm still to hear anything back myself.

I assume the results are now in the process of being delivered then.

Which depot have you applied for ManDub?

Its right next to Piccadilly station. You have to head out of Piccadilly station at the side enterence (near platform 1) and its the main building on your left. Can't believe they didn't send you a map. I believe you need a door code to get in as well. They haven't made this easy have they? All I'll suggest is leave yourself at least 20 minutes extra.

Sounds like it hasnt improved since I had an interview there last year. I was lucky that a driver recognised that I was lost and in a daze and took me to the side door and let me in.

I think thats the only way you can possibly get in. There are at least two doors requiring passwords, when you go up the stairs it says you're on level 4 when you're really on level 2 to make things more confusing, and I don't think there are any intercoms at the front enterence to even fob off? Worse still, theres countless rooms and corridors up there for you to get lost in, and many poor signs that point to things that used to be there but aren't anymore.
The OP really will need to find a member of staff to help get to the DTM's Office. North Block is hard enough to get in and its an absolute nightmare to find anywhere even when you do finally get in.

I got an email Monday morning (4th March) re the interview.
I applied for Mcr Picc
I got through about 52 or 53 in the visual test, I thought at the time I'd got them all correct.

Has anyone else heard anything, one way or another?
Sorry if I'm being nosey but I'm guessing this must be the next stage of people finding out?
