Not sure how many I did.......wasn't 60, but like to think I only got 1 wrong which I never went back to. I got the first one wrong as my mouse is **** but realised I could go back and I corrected that one.
I didn't get near 60 but I know for sure they were all correct so maybe that will count for something.

Ahh good luck then. Wish they would just seen the email out the deadline for online is not till next thursday so its going to be a bit of a wait.

I'm pretty sure I got nowhere near 50 when I took that test in October, I'm now 4 weeks into my training with Northern and loving it.
DTM meeting next if you get through, I know the next training course starts in June.

I've applied as well for the Manchester Northern Rail Driver position. Just did my visual comparison and got 52. Pretty much certain they were all correct (I actually went back and changed one because I accidentally pressed the mouse clicker..) and annoyingly I was clicking on my 53rd answer as it timed out.
Have applied to be a postman in recent times and the assessments at this stage are very similar.
This forum's been really helpful as a reader so far so I thought I'd register, just in case one day I have some insight to share.

Made a bit of a mess of it, 43 with only 1 possibly wrong. Think I've blown it.

If you pass everything and get the job, you will be assigned a DTM to look after you and assess, harrass you for the rest of your career.
If it helps I found the DTM interview the easiest out of all the selection process, mine only lasted 25 minutes, but he did mention I had the strongest application out of everyone, you really need to nail the application form to progress.

Get them into your head, and work every answer around them.

Does anybody know if there are any companies other than northern with current trainee driver positions in the manchester area. Think I have definitely blown this one

Thanks for that I pretty sure I have the working alone and flexibility covered as I have been self employed for years so can handle and actually prefer it lol. The rules and regulations well I was an accountant for years so use to working to rules may be different but as important it's just the safety part I need to get covered and then just hope my application gets me through.

Me being self employed before joing the railway helped me - accountancy won't help that much as they are looking for a more safety related set of rules and regs, as for safety do you drive a car? You could use this but it is a weak offer however if you have nothing else it is better than nothing

Yes I drive I have read somewhere else it's a weak one x glad the self employed as one aspect covered x I use to work in office in a factory just thinking about the rules and regulation courses and safety may be able to use that x I may be ahead of myself lol I may not get through but want to be comfortable and feel I have every aspect covered x

Im there too mate. I saw your class at Newton Heath Monday and Tuesday this week whilst I was doing a 153 conversion. Seems like yesterday my intake were up there. Flown by.
I completed the visual comparison tests the other day for the Blackpool position, did just over 60 (hopefully all correct, I was pretty certain on them!). Hopefully my application is up to scratch if I did pass. Just like to thank everyone for the advice so far.
Beveridges, thanks for the information. Is there much scope for moving depots once into Northern? I'm originally from midway between Leeds/York, and I'd like to go back there eventually (been in Manchester 5 years now for university etc) if possible! Obviously I've gotta get in first before that becomes something to even think about really!

Yes there is scope for moving depots once in Northern. You can put in for a transfer the day after you pass out. In fact it has even been known for people to transfer during training, though I think that is uncommon.
If there are frequently vacancies at the depot your looking to transfer to then it won't take long at all. Leeds for example must have vacancies every year as theres so many Drivers based there theres always some leaving. York would obviously be harder to get in and may not be available for a while for transfer. Some of the depots have waiting lists and the Drivers with the most experience in the role get priority. York may be one of those depots with a "waiting list" though really can't see Leeds having a large enough waiting list to stop you going there quickly enough.
I think you are allowed 1 transfer maximum with the company.

Best of all if you go East you get a MUCH better salary for your first 3 years.
Just for comparison:
West: £18k training, £34k year 1, £37k year 2, £40k year 3 onwards
East: same money training (with Internals getting to keep their previous salary!) then straight onto full money - £42k - from year 1.
East have also got Sundays inside the working week, Sunday is normally an easier turn than a weekday with better start/finishing times better work and also commuting to/from work is easier with less traffic, so it really is a good thing to have Sundays inside. Can't blame you for wanting to go east at all.
Going mainline would appeal to me a lot more if we had east conditions on the west.
