Not enough time, but that's not the aim. There are 150 questions, and 5 minutes. That's 2 seconds a question! I can't confirm if I got them all right but I ran out of time at around question 60, which is basically a question every 5 seconds. I believe the marking system will have a cut off point, from what I read on here. Either way, even If we make it Northern has to enjoy reading out applications for us to get further, fingers crossed!

What's the deal with applying to the Manchester Pic position if you've already applied for Blackpool? Manchester Pic would be a better location for me, but as I'm sure everyone else does I applied for Blackpool as in range vacancies don't come up often!

I think you should ring/email HR and asked them to consider your Blackpool app for Manchester instead.

Agreed, having 2 open applications wouldn't really help as we either meet the grade or don't! Thanks! I'll give them a call if I can find a recruitment phone number, so far they seem to only have an email address and a tech support number!

Good luck finding a phone number for Recruitment, Fort Knoxs' front door combination is easier to obtain.

Someone on here gave me it. Sw1ller I think! It's a lot easier than sending an email and waiting a week for the reply!

Has anybody got any experience of reapplying after an unsuccessful interview attempt? I was lucky enough to get an interview last time, which I definitely feel I can improve on. The question I would ask is, would it be worth submitting the same or similar application as last time as I managed to get an interview off the back of it, or would they think they know this already and I've had and wasted my chance? Any advice would be most welcome.

It might be in a more ideal location but don't forget Blackpool is the better of the two positions for shift times, diagrams, workload and traction (less 142s).

Really........ I mean how thick are your rose tinted specs! It's embarrassing :p

They get to train on the 323s for goodness sake. Far better than any of the DMUs and there's nothing wrong with 142s - simple, unassuming and really man-and-machine (forget the flange squeal and rough ride - part of the fun). And if I recall you were corrected the other day about diagrams when you misinterpreted the variety of work (in some cases regarding 3 different stations on the same route as 'different routes').

Lets not forget the icy wind that ever present in Blackpool ;)

Just got to 3000 characters on one of the pages on the Northern application so I saved it as I didn't want to loose my work, as you do. Only to log back in and find it wasn't saved! Properly ****ed off now. Don't need a reply to this, I know I should of done it on word first ect...... I'm just a bit mad at the page so thought I'd take a breather and have a moan on here about it! I wasn't going to apply for it but being as its still up I assume when they say the deadline is the 7th they also mean up to midnight.

......workload and traction (less 142s).

A lot of the work at Blackpool IS on 142s. Going to Colne? 142. Going to Ormskirk? 142. Going to Blackpool South? 142. Going to Manchester or Liverpool? Might be booked 15x but 142s turn up often enough. The only work pretty much guaranteed to be Pacer free is Leeds and York.

Quick update for anyone interested..... I've finally submitted my application. 1 hour and 14 minutes spare. I must of lost more work than I ended up with but its in and I'm quietly pleased with it. Fair doose that was the most annoying application I've ever completed. It doesn't help that I've been in work most of the day and I'm shattered. Anyway, GOOD LUCK to everyone who applied. :)

I still have my login details for my application which showed I submitted it at 23:58hrs - 2 minutes spare!

Nooo I already am a Driver at Northern. When I applied last year it came down to the wire!

Ahhhhhh I see. Like I said, I've been working all day and I'm tired. Well if I'm lucky enough to get through, would you give me a couple of pointers for the interviews ect. Not now, might be a waste of your time.

What depot are you at if you don't mind me asking? How is Northern to work for?

Got mine too, that was very quick. Not at a computer at the moment so can't do it until I get home from work later on. I'm a tad nervous too, can't be messing up at this stage.

I've not had anything through, but did complete the online test not so long ago, so it looks like either I'm not going to get the chance and will get a knock back or I won't have to do the test again. I suppose I'll find out soon enough, good luck to everyone else.

Neither have I and I've done the online test as well, when they advertised for trainee drivers during the summer last year. They said at that time that I had met the standard but then did not progress my application any further after that and was rejected. Hoping to get further this time. I'm hoping to hear something soon. Good luck to everyone else who has applied.
