The first internally refreshed 319 under Govia Thameslink appears to have emerged - the walls haven't been repainted so it doesn't seem to be one of the ones done under First Capital Connect.

As the Northern ones are getting an internal refresh and PIS I imagine they'll look similar - except for maybe the choice of colours.

It's distinctly possible that Northern (or its successor) may get these trains in due course.... doubt they would be refreshed again either.....

Indeed its nothing to do with GTR either.

Its the trains owners who are doing this not the TOC. All units will get this including the Northern unit with the final unit finished in 2017.

Yes. Porterbrook have stated the following work will be carried out on the 319s:

Door reliability (2 days)
Improve reliability. Introduce a revised installation design
for the door actuator and its associated interlocks

Interior Lighting (2 days)
Remove possible obsolescence problem with current
lighting.

Head/tail/marker lights (1 day)
The current filament lamps used are unreliable and will
be changed for LEDs (tail/marker/LED).

Full PRM-TSI compliance (5 days additional to C6 downtime)
The vehicles will be modified to comply with the PRM
TSI legislation which will include seat back handles,
additional wheelchair space/call for aid button, door
sounders, and boarding ramp fixing points. The toilet will
need replacement for full PRM-TSI compliance.

There's also other extras the TOC can request like air conditioning, which will presumably increase the leasing costs: http://www.porterbrook.co.uk/downloads/brochures/319 Brochure.pdf They don't, however, state an option for new seats but do include an option for making the trains have 2+2 seating using the existing seats.

Because as the 319s have a short life with Govia Thameslink before moving onto other operators they aren't wasting money on putting the units into a different colour scheme.

One of the recently updated NR documents mentioned in the NW Wires thread still has the line about DfT indicating use of 319s on GWML up to 12 cars.

It's more likely that a half and half set of doors is resulting from a fitter swapping things round and has nicked the door from another unit.

We've had quite a lot of door faults recently and if it is the end set of doors the unit cannot be used in service. I certainly know of two recent events where units have been parked up in Cricklewood with fitters switching doors round to get the units back into service. As long as its not the end door it can just be used with a door locked out, hence the mish mash appearance!

If the North West does not like the wires and trains that come with them then we here in the North East will happily have them instead. Seriously. I would be very happy with a 319 compared to my usual 142.

Yup. Ive said that since the start - the NE is very overlooked.

Though I must admit I do like a trip to Bishop Auckland and back when I visit the NE lovely little branch and train!! toot toot!
