Stoke services and glossop line services were going to be a mix of 3 and 4 car services, my guess would have been 4 cars at peak and 3 cars off peak.

I don't think it would have been as simple as that. That would have meant 4 car trains on another line at off peak time and 3 cars at peaks, or 4 car trains doing nothing for most of the day.

I think Sundays were supposed to be hourly Stoke to Blackpool, with no Macclesfield only services. So it may have been the intention was for a consistent Mon-Sat allocation but an exception for Sundays.

Sundays were ment to be hourly Stoke to Blackpool, the service going as far as piccadilly would have been busy not sure about the whole way to Blackpool though.

That may have ment Piccadilly to Stoke would have been 3 cars Monday-Sunday Stoke-Blackpool would have been 4 cars on Sunday.

Macclesfield to Blackpool may have been 4 cars them.

Didn't grayling cancel the windermere electrification before the plans came out or after?
Windermere electrification was cancelled after Arriva had already ordered the 331s. Therefore DfT had to pay for Arriva to order additional 195s for Windermere.

I believe the original Arriva rolling stock plan, as described in the 2016 franchise agreement, allowed for very few if any 6-car formations in the North West. After the 331s were delivered, Arriva was planning to release 5 of the 32 319s and all of the 17 323s, leaving only 27 319s to supplement the 331s. The current plan is for 34 323s plus the 8 769s (which were converted from 8 of the original 32 319s), i.e 42 units to supplement the 331s.

I think under TPE 6 car workings to Blackpool were non-existent. There were some workings that saw 6 cars between Manchester Airport and Preston but they split there with one section going to Blackpool, and the other to Windermere or Barrow. Had Windermere electrification gone ahead, maybe we would still have a few workings like that each day?

I'm glad Northern kept the 323s as while the 331s have some great benefits fast acceleration, 100mph top speed etc… some Northern services don't need the 100mph top speed or the fast acceleration.

Take Piccadilly to Stoke for example, outside of the 2 extra peak services 331s are not needed. As 323s can keep to the tight timetabling on the line the rest of the day.

Morning. Can someone please confirm which unit is booked to go North West today?

There was movement between Neville Hill and Skipton yesterday, so possibly 112 has come down but I've lost track.

107 and 112 are both showing to be at Neville Hill but as of 1030 are showing nothing allocated to them. Maybe nothing happening today

Just keep us posted, I reckon if anything goes though it'll possibly be 112 as that came straight down yesterday, but let us know if anything gets allocated.

Aren't all 9 331/0's on the east side? There are several 331/1's still on the east side, understand that (at least 3rd attempt) 331107 is booked today, but that after previous 'reluctance' for it to be friends with the 37, 331112 is a backup...........
So if 107 yet again refuses, then we know 112 will go.

I'll keep a watch as I'm around the area today.

I think 9 of the 3 cars are for the East and all have now moved.
Of the 4 cars I have 331 001, 106 and 112 still to move to Allerton.

I think we should keep 1
It's due to end its day at Neville Hill at 10:58 today so today could be its last day in service on the east

Allerton has normally put the 331/1 straight into service on arrival but 107 has not been out yet. Perhaps its reputation has necessitated a visit inside.
