It shouldn't make much difference I'd have thought except perhaps a small time penalty as buses have to travel through Okehampton, in exchange for improved bus connectivity in the town.

Hopefully some work will be put in to improve walking connectivity to the new station from the B3260 as right now it looks very poor

BBC are reporting consultation launched on a new station at Melton (on Hull to Selby line) to service a new business park including an Amazon distribution centre

A new railway station and transport interchange could be built in Melton.
East Riding of Yorkshire Council has launched a consultation on the proposal, which would also include bus stops and a car park with almost 500 spaces.
The Melton Interchange would address "significant capacity issues" at peak times at North Ferriby and Brough stations, according to consultation documents.
The area is undergoing significant development, including the construction of an Amazon distribution centre, which is due to bring up to 2,000 jobs to the Melton West business park.
Smith & Nephew is also investing in a £100m facility at Melton West, to replace its plant at Hessle Road in Hull.
The interchange, on the Hull to Selby railway line, would be built on land between North Ferriby and Brickyard Lane, with direct access from the A63.
It would include 130m (426ft) long railway platforms, suitable for five-car trains, connected by an enclosed bridge, according to the consultation documents.
A car park with 497 spaces would be built to the north of the eastbound platform.

Aldridge Railway Station’s future site is being secured and cleared to pave the way for the start of construction.

The £30 million project will see a single platform station built with a 40 space car park and road access from Westfield Drive.

Transport for West Midlands (TfWM) and the West Midlands Rail Executive (WMRE) are working with Network Rail to get the station built and open – restoring passenger rail services to the town for the first time in 60 years.

Planned to open during 2027, Aldridge Station will initially offer a half-hourly service to Walsall town centre where passengers will be offered an easy interchange with services to Birmingham as well as the opportunity to connect to wider regional and national services.

On Devizes, my MP Michelle Donelan is claiming she'll campaign for a new station in her latest emails.

Yeah pretty much dead in the water because it wouldn’t be viable without a lot of expensive upgrades elsewhere, such as Westbury.

The September edition of Modern Railways has thundered onto my doormat.
It contains the following items:
Kings Heath, Moseley Village, Pineapple Road - now likely opening in Autumn 2025.
Darlaston, Willenhall - now likely February 2026.
Liverpool Baltic - brought forward to 2027.
Aldridge, was potentially spring 2027 now 'deferred'.

Cardiff Parkway - I have removed the suggested date (2024) as it clearly won't be opening this year. Latest news was in January 2024 when the inquiry into the 'called-in' application was re-opened. A report will then be sent by the planing inspector to the minister for a decision to be made on the application.
Charfield - suggested date has slipped to 2027.
St Clears - i have removed from the table. Funding was available until March this year, in the absence of progress that funding ceased to be available.

The Mid Devon District Council has expressed its disappointment with the government’s confirmation of the cancellation of the plan to reopen Cullompton station in Devon.

The confirmation was given to Mid Devon District Council in a letter sent by the Minister of State for Rail to the local MP confirming that the reopening, to be financed from the Restoring Your Railway (RYR) fund, has been withdrawn.

According to the letter, withdrawal of funding is because of the challenging financial picture the new Government has inherited.

Elland station has moved a step closer, with contractors appointed to manage the development of the project.

A contractor has been appointed to oversee the final stages of development work on a new railway station in West Yorkshire.

The £25m railway station is Elland, which will be added to the Calder Valley line, is set to open in 2026.

Keltbray Infrastructure Services Limited are aiming to complete a detailed design of the project by next summer.

Calderdale Council leader Jane Scullion said the new station would bring "huge benefits for the borough, improving access to the wider region and supporting local growth".

Once the next stage of the project is complete, the development can then progress to final approval and then construction, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service.

It is being delivered by the West Yorkshire Combined Authority (WYCA) in partnership with Calderdale Council with the aim of improving Elland's transport links with Leeds, Huddersfield, Bradford and Manchester.

West Yorkshire mayor Tracy Brabin said the station "will provide a vital new link for the transport network in Calderdale, improving access to jobs, education and other opportunities".

The plans also include walking and cycling upgrades around the station, including enhancing existing routes and installing two new pedestrian and cycle bridges.

The project has already passed a number of key milestones that are essential for delivering a new station, including receiving planning approval, and preliminary design approval from Network Rail.

But delays have caused frustration.

A Conservative member of Calderdale Council, Peter Hunt, said previously there had been an absence of "substantive" updates on the project.

Given that White Rose construction has been halted due to cost and with Elland being in a similar location ie on an embarkment, needing lifts and a bridge, car park and other improvement works in the vicinity, is this likely to go ahead? I personally hope so but I wouldn't be surprised if this got canned.
