The railway uses railway specific equipment, not normal PCs. A lot of the railway specific equipment is not the workstation that you see signallers using in photos. It's normally mounted in rows of 19 inch cubicles/racks and uses the railways own telecommunication cables. Plus there is specific equipment for the telephones and even more if there are CCTV level crossings...
