Are the NSE signs still up at Newhaven Marine? They were about 18months ago when I paid a visit, although I'm sure I heard they had now gone?

I wish I had of took the screwdriver and WD40 to it 10 years ago when I had the chance haha
--- old post above --- --- new post below ---
Still some notepads knocking around the office, no doubt plenty more in various cupboards untouched for years...

any chance of me aquiring some?? :D

Sorry to bring up an old thread but NSE branding has reappeared at Beckenham Junction. Sometime in the 1980s or 1990s a triangular BR totem was installed at the corner of Rectory Road on the station approach. It featured a three sided BR symbol, the station name and the NSE flashes. After privatisation Connex Southeastern crudely covered the NSE flashes with its trademark graduated lines branding. Connex Metro branding might have also appeared at some point but I can't be certain. After Connex were evicted, the publicly operated SouthEastern covered the Connex lines with white stickers. Over the years the totem itself became very grubby with the red background looking very faded. Suddenly a week or so ago I noticed the sign was looking very bright. The red is no longer faded, the white is bright, the blue lettering far more visible and low and behold three NSE flashes shining like beacons! My first thought was someone's cleaned it up but on closer inspection it looks like new signs have been plated over each side of the triangle. By who I don't know. I'd assume Southeasten (Now GoVia-operated) but why would they bring back NSE branding when they've changed signs at other local stations to include their logo under the station name and BR arrows? The totem itself is placed on a crossroads on the approach to the station so perhaps the local council or residents committee got so sick of the faded sign they paid for the original to be copied.

If you can get a photo of it then it would be great - NSE in the 21st Century. Burgess Hill still has NSE branding but it may have gone.

I know that Southern have replaced a few station totems along the Brighton Main Line so that the stations name is now in a dark green oblong which has completely obliterated the old NSE, NSC and CSE/CSC branding.

I like the old NSE livery. There's still a Red bin in NSE livery in the Selhurst Quiet Room.

Despite the works at London Bridge, one of the old NSE clocks has found a new use on the blue fence where work is taking place next to the bus station. It can be seen on trains coming from Waterloo East.

Saw the NSE logo today at Bank LU (Waterloo & City line), painted on the floor under the white line at the platform edge. It's looking a bit worse for wear!

Certainly like the Intercity Swallow livery the Network southeast livery is one I would very much like to see return to the uk rail network.

It would look very good on crossrail

Here Here! A great branding for both Crossrail and the expanded Thameslink network.

I have wondered about how you'd do compliant contrast doors on NSE livery without messing it up. Remeber, they don't have to be garish- just look at Chiltern's ex WSMR Silver livery for how contrast can be done well.

Yah I was shocked by how well it sat. I suppose of all the old BR liveries the hardest one to do would be intercity. Suppose the best colour to extend would be the black?

Yeah, that crossed my mind as well. Can't really imagine anything working with Swallow. Not convinced about black.

Intercity would probably work best (best being a relative term as it is a horrible, awful livery and I refuse to be swayed on that matter) if you made the doors red with a small band of white either side. Making the doors white or black wouldn't contrast enough with the rest of the livery.

OMG that would be hideous !

Red is only ever good in small doses - except for Royal Mail livery obviously - when it batters you into imperial submission.

I have to say it looks very good on a class 170. I wouldnt mind seeing a class 395 in the intercity livery.

(You may be surprised to know that NSE was already planning for HS1 domestic services as early as 1990. It would have been using a modified Networker called a Class 342.)

Growing up in Kent in the early 90's the channel tunnel rail link was very much a topic for discussion even though it didn't come about at that time, therefore I'm not surprised that NSE had a plan for it.

I would be disappointed if they'd not planned to have compartment carriages on the units along the same lines of the 442's.
