Thanks!

Finally caught up on my 3 month backlog barring a few Metrolink moves and a fudge of the Retro Shakesperean Tug railtour where I have selected Bescot Stadium as the reverse point, although it was a touch further in the Goods Loop

Total now stands at 10,208 - not only does that surpass 2012 (which was highest year to date) by over 1,000 miles, it was also my initial target! Now onward to my new target of 12,000 (to average 1,000 a month!) :D
--- old post above --- --- new post below ---
Added in Metrolink now and total stands at 10,260

10,000 miles came within 0.038 miles of Kidsgrove, alighting 153385 and 153308 having come from Longport

I'm now at 8729m 47ch for the year. I'm missing out on some mileage today after forgetting to set my alarm earlier, but have a couple more big trips planned which should take me clear of 10,000.

Finally got around to updating my mileage and I appear to have done 9953 which leaves me relatively confident of getting close (maybe even past) 12,000 for the third time in in row. Also I appear to have spent 8 days on trains so far this year. Not as much as some I'm sure but when you've been on a train for over a week it seems like a lot!

I wish I was doing that sort of variety on my week off in October! I'm planning London and Brighton at least, pending hotels and all that, but no doubt that'll change lol

Does anybody have any good sources for working out distances for the Brussels metro (both the subway and the trams?)

I've been looking for a source for nearly 2 years, a Euro crank friend has recommended getting a PDF version of Google Maps for the relevant area (not sure how to do that, I must pester him for more details) and tracing the routes and cross-referencing with the scale or something. Apparently the metro/subway routes are marked in grey lines on the PDF Google Maps, however as I say above I'll try and get more details.

Do I take it this means you have a big trip report to come? ;)

I shall not complain about the 377/6-7 seats again. Luxury compared to the plastic seats on the underground units (although the trams were nice)

Aye the plastic seats were unexpected when I did Brussels, but I didn't find them too bad. Considering I went from Erasme right to the other end of the line in one sitting, at least a 35 minute journey IIRC, then they can't have been too bad since I had no complaints of discomfort!

EDIT: Did that sound that plays before an announcement on the trams get stuck in your head too? It did for me after doing line 7 all the way in one go!

Remember to pull the handles to open the doors, how old are those units? (Although the one I caught on a route 1 seemed more modern.

I was suprised with the number of tram lines.

The amount of tram lines is a pleasant surprise in Brussels yes :)

I think the units you refer to (I have my ST Publications book of European Metro Systems, I'll have a look later) are from 1974, whereas the lot on line 1 are 2006 or 2009.

I appear to be approximately 26th in the competition so far this year. 7,876 miles so far in 2014, not too bad for less than 8 months of cranking in 2014. I also have some serious mileage to come this week <D

With thanks to the distances linked to for the Edinburgh Trams in the first post of this thread, I can confirm my mileage has now hit 9,512 for 2014 in just a little under 8 months :D

1,600 miles in October alone, I'm very happy with that! :D

EDIT: 22nd in the table (if you discount 350fan at the top with over 126,000 miles! Can that really be genuine?!), I'm happy with that!

I've hit 10,079 mi 71ch for the year - after a trip up to York. This is by far the earliest I've hit 10,000 miles in the year - but I've not got much more planned for the year at this stage.

I've broken the 12,000 barrier for the first time :D

Perhaps not a big deal to some on here but seeing as for the last three years I've hit just under 12,000 each year I'm really happy to finally have got over the line.

I'm doing well this year it must be said :) Quite, until I process all my journeys from this weekend's adventure (observations and trip report will follow soon, I've got a LOT to catch up on here first!), I won't have the exact figure but in October I came close to clearing 2,000 miles! :D

I do wonder if 2015 will be as kind to me, I've certainly a ton of stuff planned!
--- old post above --- --- new post below ---
I've got cause for celebrating now I've just finished processing my journeys into RailMiles! My last trip achieved these milestones:

150,000 miles for all-time cleared (I have a good few missing journeys to go through yet so I should have hit that target ages ago), currently I'm on 150,489mi 04ch :D

10,000 miles for 2014 hit somewhere between Great Malvern and Worcester Foregate Street on the way home! Currently on 10,022mi 54ch for 2014 :D

I doubt I'll ever manage to beat 2007's massive figure mind:

21,008mi 63ch

Just updated my mileage. 16161 so far with a trip to London then Scotland this weekend. No where near my 2013 haul of 23708. In fact each of the last four years has seen a decline.

I'm onto 1235 miles this year, Last year I managed just over 2000 miles, This years figure is out of date anyway due to no-one on earth knowing the distance between leyburn and the passing loop on the wensleydale railway.

Oh really? That sounds unusual, is it a new addition?
