I'm onto 1235 miles this year, Last year I managed just over 2000 miles, This years figure is out of date anyway due to no-one on earth knowing the distance between leyburn and the passing loop on the wensleydale railway.
Not sure if you can recalculate from this.

The line now serves Leeming Bar, Bedale , Finghall Lane, Leyburn and Redmire, a distance of 16 miles.

Are you referring to the passing loop at Constable Burton? If so, Ordinance Survey data reckons this is 4.925km - I'll let you do the conversion into old money ;)

Still improving on previous years - now up to 16485 , putting me up to 13th in the list. All mileage for leisure - no work/commuting - and at an average cost of 11p per mile.

From previous bashing:
Castle Hills Loop (NR) - Constable Burton Loop = 14mi 48ch
Castle Hills Loop (NR) - Castle Hills Loop (WR) = 0mi 58ch
Castle Hills Loop (WR) - Leeming Bar = 5mi 39ch

By my powers of deduction that makes Leeming Bar - Constable Burton Loop equal to 8mi 31ch

Its between the known values of Leeming - Finghall (7mi 28ch) and Leeming - Leyburn (11mi 52ch)

Just a reminder that the competition will close a few weeks into the new year so you might want to start getting up to date with your mileages to avoid any last minute scrambles ;)

Good point, must get on with doing the figures from my Stockholm bash!

Expecting to post my final result by 30th December.

Is it just me or does Buckshaw Parkway not exist in railmiles?

Seems to jump straight from Chorley to Euxton Junction

This being a thing somehow eluded me until today when I wanted to find out the mileage on the Clapham Junction branch of LOROL and came across that handy little extra :)

Going to hurriedly fill in all my mileages from this year as I suspect it'll be better than next year's, what with now working from home more often. January's mileage alone is 1352 so I expect the total yearly figure to be at least above 10,000 if not 15,000, which should put me in the top 20 or 30 on the leaderboard :D

Lost somewhere within Bank-Monument tube station,
I've worked out my mileage up to the start of December, and it comes out at just under 3300 miles, which I reckon is nearly three times as much as my mileage from last year. And that doesn't yet include my London Underground, DLR and Tramlink mileage as well, so I reckon my final total will be in excess of 4000 miles.

A 16-25 railcard is a fantastic thing, as I've learnt over the last year and a bit. That, and making far more trips on the railways anyway due to university. :D

I work out that I covered just over 84 miles on Metrolink last Friday, that is quite a bit (and took a while to work out using the distance tables)

I managed to get a spare passport photo today so I should be set to buy my Lichfield season ticket next week.

Tell me about it! Mine is such hard work. I have not updated this for ages, but that certainly doesn't mean I haven't been out on the rails :p It will just have to go in one mega-update... oh goodness, there's a lot of calculating to do!

Average of about 6 trains a day, 5 days a week, for the whole year to add up. Done a couple of months so far, but wow it's hard work (I should point out almost every day is different, it's rarely the same journey so I can't just multiply). On the bright side, doing this is helping me spot a few mistakes I made in my per-unit mileage charts, so is proving well worth doing. January & February alone add up to 3110 so far, so I think I'm doing pretty well!

As better place as any.

The RailMiles mileage engine will be down from some point tomorrow (the server it is on is going offline to save money). It's being migrated to a new server, kindly sponsored by a hosting provider, with a couple of updates to the mileage on it.

When can we expect it to be live again? Hopefully not long as I have lots of journeys to add and plenty to update too!

By the end of the week I'd imagine. Anyone who has RM itself is fine as that's not affected.

Sorry to have to ask but I couldn't find it anywhere - do we have an exact closing date for this? Pesky christmas etc. is getting in the way of tallying up my mileage for the year so I'm still working on it, and with railmiles down for a bit I'm going to be missing quite a few entries until it's back... :s

I'm also a long way behind, I forgot until last night that I had a truckload of moves and data to crunch! I seem to recall 2013's entries were extended by a few days, so it'll probably happen this year too.

I've not long finished a massive update to my RailMiles page, took me the best part of 2 hours to do! Mind you there was a couple of 10 minute coffee breaks in there too, had to be done with the endurance that was nearly 4 notebook pages of moves to enter and lots of faffing around with the Stockholm Metro moves too!

I am, therefore, pleased to announce that I'm ending 2014 on 11,146 miles and 48 chains :D I didn't do too badly in December 2014 either, 955 miles and 19 chains to my most pleasant surprise! By a long way March was my best month of 2014, with 2,002 miles in just that month! My least productive month was November, with just 391 rail miles.

As of right now, I see I ended up in 22nd place on the table, until everyone else finishes updating their figures of course! Not entirely where I wanted to end up, I'd have been happier with a Top 20 position or higher, but to end in the Top 30 for a part-time basher will do nicely!

Of course, if I was adding all my road miles to this lot I would be in a far better position!

Damn, the way I'm going at the moment (still only got as far as early April!) you're going to beat me with that score... March wasn't a very productive month due to having taken a week off ill, so came out at only 828 miles. I suspect that'll probably be the lowest one I post, but we'll see. Still working away at it!

There is normally a week's buffer time to allow people to catch up on calculating any missing mileage, etc, but as ainsworth74 puts it, there is no exact closing date. There will normally be a reminder or two before the final positions are announced. If you have any problem in getting your mileage up-to-date then if you let us know, we can make arrangements to accommodate that.

That said I have finally caught up with all my mileages for this year. There is still a bit to come in a couple of days but currently the total is a slightly disappointing 32k, mainly due to a lack of Rover trips this year.
