It falls into the same area as Chiltern withdrawing the West Ealing - West Ruislip service at why they need to waste money on running a replacement bus (even if any genuine passengers can use GWR to Greenford for Central line to Ruislip).
It doesn't, because DalesRail serves a specific purpose, whereas most Parlys don't.

I have suggested hourly clockface Morecambes would be better than the present hotchpotch (see also St Albans) but this smells bigger. And the former would be madness.
