Perhaps. Or perhaps not. Can’t remember if hand, but I don’t remember this being on the list of things happening.
Ok, thanks for replying. If you do find out or hear that it's a mistake please let us know. I just can't get over how bonkers it appears.

I suspect it's an error. No way they'd run a Nottingham - Tyseley empties each way every hour all timetable period. Makes no sense.
I suspect they are essentially ghost paths in the timetable to make sure freight etc can't be planned in those paths should they return.

Edit - The Planner has beaten me to it with the explanation!

When the Nottingham to Birmingham journeys disappear, Wilnecote gains a stop in the Nottingham to Cardiff journeys. So it doesn't seem to be an error.

Whilst the Matlock does have a good connection at Derby on to a North East - South West service I can't see that regression after all this time being helpful.

"You get your Matlocks back... but we're having one of your Birminghams!".

And of course that sticks for many hours your 2 Derby to Birmingham trains within 10 minutes unless you're lucky enough to get a rare one heading towards Reading.

I’ll second that! I had briefly mentioned this way back upthread but the main focus seemed to be on the south coast services, a great surprise - was beginning to think we would never see it return, at least not in the near future.
I would hang back at least until you see it in the XC timetable leaflet before celebrating mind. The services appearing in the LTP is of course a beacon of hope, but we've been here before.

But wouldn't you want to have the whole path into Birmingham to hold on to slots into New Street. i.e. put them in the timetable as they run at the moment then cancel them later?

Birmingham to Nottingham trains are very well used from what I have seen often standing room only, often on what weekend football games are on.

X is eXcepted
O is Only

SX is Saturday Excepted (runs every day except Saturday)
SuO is Sunday Only (only runs on Sundays)
T is Tuesday
Th is Thursday
Should we add that this, on a public-facing timetable applies within the days of operation of the timetable block in question.
SX would mean Monday to Friday, rather than every day except Saturday, in the context of a timetable proclaiming that it operates Monday to Saturday?

There is possibly the point though that if XC want to run more Voyager services on the Reading to Newcastle route, they need to cut the Birmingham to Nottingham services to free up Birmingham traincrew. One or the other, not both.

On Sundays the 9J London Bridge - Horsham have been removed with one of the 9R Bedford - Three Bridges extended to Horsham.
The Redhill Line sees a 50% cut to London Bridge services and Ilfield to Littlehaven a 50% cut to all stopping services
As long as the 9Js are 12 cars will be sufficient for Redhill lines as they also get 2 reigates and a bognor

Not seeing much reason to do a lot for the others, save for Guildford if you’ve got the units going up and down the Direct early and late for diversion retention.
While there wouldn't be much "cost" in returning passenger service to the Reading to Guildford sector of the route knowledge moves, there wouldn't be much benefit either, and I speak as one who used them on occasions.

Timings varied over the years, but northbound was around 6am, and southbound mid or late evening. On the occasions I used them, there were only ever a handful of passengers south of Reading, and it wasn't unknown to have a coach to myself.

For the majority of journeys, the North Downs line and if possible a well-timed connection at Reading is far more useful. For Birmingham and beyond, it's usually quicker to go via London anyway (at least, it was until the Avanti meltdown).

Running them ECS may save a TM diagram as it avoids the need for a taxi or pass ride to/from Guildford. Bear in mind that XC have a TM depot at Reading, which you'd imagine is used for most of the early/late Reading services.

XC are going to run shuttles to Cambridge? I understand there are 2 in the late evening but will any more be added?

No just the usual from Cambridge early morning & back late evening for operational purposes.

The 10:14 ex-Paignton was always well loaded with a large proportion who boarded up to Dawlish still seated after Exeter. I used this train quite often to Temple Meads & it wasn’t uncommon for the trolley not to get right through until well after Taunton even though it started after departure from Torquay.

Staff have been told that the 06:48 Norwich-Liverpool St will be returning from May due to the overcrowding now experienced on the 06:28/07:05 departures but it’s not showing yet.
Perhaps we can hope the strange additional Colchester call on 1730 down is scrapped too ?

I saw that arriving Ipswich tonight around 18:40 & it was so busy. Can only imagine how full it was departing Liverpool St.

Anecdotally, I’ve seen a lot of 8 car RLUs at Redhill in the morning peak and at London Bridge in the evening on 9J (but not exclusively, as I realised hanging off the end of the South Croydon and Norwood Jct platforms). That being said, I imagine there will be a lot more free 700/1s without 9R running on Sundays.

Do we know which others are finalised, and which might be subject to more cuts? It looks for instance like Northern East is finalised with some heavy cuts there, but Northern West isn't because the only thing that's been cut is DalesRail? What about WMT?
Having had cuts last year to allow for training catch ups, I'm certainly all ears to hear from Northern what the rational is for cuts in the east but not so much in the west.

I'm kind of hoping that there won't be cuts there, and that there are still holes in the east schedules yet to be filled. However I am not holding my breath...
Highly likely there are cuts in the west, when you hear the staff talking about it, while you're travelling on the train.

I'd be surprised if there weren't to a similar extent as East.
Although a handful have already gone through, such as Buxton from 2tph to 1tph and Atherton from 3tph to 2tph two years ago, and more recently Whiston, Rainhill, and St Helens Junction from 2tph to 1tph, and so on. There were also substantial savings from the Taskforce led changes. Maybe that's why they can afford to expand some Sunday services.
