I was heading north this morning, as was the Freightliner.
Sorry - the next train northbound was bang on time into Manchester.

We were 9 late into MAN, and crawled it from Crewe(ish) onwards. No idea why, presume signals against us for whatever reason. Won't blame this one on freight then.

I'd let them off 5 minutes!

Ten plus minutes slow today on 1508 Milford Haven to Man Pic - guard says it's a 'slow moving freight train'
1508 Milford Haven to Man Pic last Friday - 10+ late getting into Shrewsbury.
Guard: 'Slow running freight train'
I have just looked this up. The train from Milford Haven arrived Shreswbury 6 late and departed 5 late (WTT times). The delay was between Newport & Hereford and was not connected to any freight train.
Information given by guard was incorrect.
It was the Colas logs train from Baglan Bay to Chirk, it should have been 20 ahead of 1W20 but left Hereford 3 late and lost time north of Hereford but wasn't looped at Wooferton.
How often is the Wooferton loop used in situations such as describe above?

Last time a I saw anything in it was crippled wagons.
Until quite recently there was a FLHH coal booked into Woofferton loop but the only one I've seen recently is the occasional 6M58 Westbury Cement Works- Tunstead.
Is it long enough for most of the freight these days?Signaller at Woofferton will often stick one in if they are "out of path" or running poorly.
Because the cross-over doesn't work properly?

Complete meltdown today on the South Wales to Manchester Picc line, due to a broken down freight train. Also seems to be affecting trains going south, so goodness knows how people are supposed to get where they need to be.
Something is going to have to be done about this.
