Not so, the line you so describe that was used for the trials in preparation prior to the proceedings that led to the introduction of the Manchester Metrolink service was the part of the Fallowfield Loop Line, where it diverged from Fairfield station, which had the trials using DLT units at a temporary halt constructed on Hyde Road.
The line to East Didsbury, whilst using the former Chorlton-cum-Hardy station on the other end of the Fallowfield Loop Line, then bifurcated to take another route altogether.
