Wonder what the odds are for the Sankey Viaduct?
There are going to be 9 masts (one for each pier).

No. There are 9 spans, with 8 intermediate piers and an abutment at each end, total 10 supports. NR's first proposal (which may for all I know have been intended to be shot down) was for 10 gantries (one for each abutment and one for each pier), but there will now be 4 gantries (one for each abutment and one for every third pier). Links to plans have been posted in this thread. Most recently, PDG1949 gave this link in #2004:

Click on "Existing and proposed elevations", for example.
Yes of course, I have seen those, just mis-remembering what was said.
On the viaduct itself there is paint at intervals on the walls, bearing the word "HOLE" with a down arrow.
Maybe they are the locations of the masts.
Dyslexic surveyor. Meant to write OHLE?

SSA EWA ACG AT
Self supporting anchor (no backtie)
(possibly) Earth Wire Anchor
Anti-climb Guard
(possibly) Autotensioner
Excellent find, thank you.
(withdrawn:Please can you also find equivalent material for Earlestown Station and Rainhill Station?)
I've now finally looked in the right place (or one of them, at least) and found the planning consent for Earlestown Station's electrification works here:
http://llpgport.oltps.sthelens.gov.uk/portal/servlets/ApplicationSearchServlet?PKID=100855
I can find several relating to Rainhill, eg raising the footbridges, but nothing about electrification per se. Can anyone do any better?
Just had a browse of your linked info, and revealingly the photo captions in the Earlestown Station 'design and access statement' are actually examples showing how it is intended to look at Rainhill. Might that be an indication that they will probably apply for and use the same solution there?
Could be, but isn't it leaving it all rather late? I assume (might be wrong) that Rainhill Station is about as Listed as can be, hence some of the other planning requests such as one to put up a memorial plaque.
The station buildings and the Skew Bridge are both Grade II listed - so not that protected at all really!

Not off topic, very much on as it is part of the electrificaton scheme.Slightly off topic but sleepers now down alongside platform 4 at Huyton.

The third track was originally part of the electrification and the fourth was part of the Northern Hub, but they have been largely combined. Not off topic, very much on as it is part of the electrificaton scheme.
Didn't somebody mention recently that it might be accelerated? But a bit premature as no trains running on it for a couple of years!

Not complaining anyway!

Registration arms are up in the rock cutting at Thatto Heath, attached to the elegant wall fixings - clever engineering there.
FEEDING THE TROOPS......
I had to smile walking down Duke Street, St, Helens around 10pm last night when I spotted a Network Rail flatbed truck parked outside Geno's pizzeria, with a hi-vis jacketted gentleman watching over it. What was aboard? Why registration arms !
They do take measures certainly on cable drums that any unauthorized movement is immediately reportedIndeed! Protecting all this fancy metalwork before it goes live must be a real issue for NR/BB.
The metal thieves will surely have noticed all the stockpiles - so much easier to walk off with than buried cables.
Once it's got 25kV running through it it will be a lot safer...
The four big terminal masts at the east end of Victoria just need their "Electric Trains Stop Here" signs![]()

I dont think we will be seeing those (at least not in the station area) as they are already getting on with the foundations beyond the road bridge
I believe the east end will be wired up along with the rest of the station as far as the Rochdale road bridge to aid shunting movements along with platforms 1 and 2. This should be coming online with the rest of the through platforms as one package.
