WOWOWOWOWOWOW? Hold up.

2018? not 2016 as originally planned?

Sorry, Dec 2016 as you say. I was looking at something called Core Stage 2 which includes the Piccadilly/Oxford Road work.
Dec 2016 assumes a start on site Nov 2014.
But the planning permission rider still applies.

How long will it be till they start on the chord?
The Transport & Works Act Order application was submitted to the DfT in September 2013. These can take a long time before the Order is granted.

See:-http://www.transportbriefing.co.uk/news/storyadx?id=9623

So the NR start date of the end of 2014 may be optomistic!

TWAO's can take 18 months or more to get permission however NR have already done the statutory consultation in this instance so how fast its granted is purely dependent on how idle the Secretary of State is.

Thatto Heath Station on the 18th December with Northern Belle headed by 47501. Note the cutting of all the trees/bushes in and around the tunnel entrance.

Also noted complete masts and overhead stanchion in situ on Prescot Station along with complete cutting back of trees/bushes in Olive Mount Cutting as seen from Rathbone Rd Bridge.

A typical commuter-belt part of north-west England
And tomorrow, the blockade at Manchester Victoria begins.

Well, it is essential that a time had to be found for lowering the trackwork under the bridge carrying Cheetham Hill Road over the running lines in order to prepare the way for the future line electrification through Manchester Victoria railway station.

I was there today, a few supports now bolted into the roof over the lines through 3 and 4, no tracks removed at all although plenty of white paint. One yellow piece of plant on the lines. More work at the Ordsall Lane end with supports now about 35% of the way towards Salford Central.

They haven't finished building the foundations yet!

when I talked to the workers a few weeks ago they said the supports should be going up in the spring time, they are going to put the new link bridge to the arena in first, as it would be a bit difficult doing it with the roof up!

Out of interest will stations such as Preston, Lancaster and Carlisle have 4car and 8car class 350 stop boards fitted/have they already been fitted?

Wasnt any at Wigan a couple of days ago, the 3 car 185 TPE services were using the Voyagers 5 car stop rather than shorter stop boards.

A bit of information for those going to see the first run, it is a pair of 350/4 units and they left Piccadilly 5 minutes late.
