Has anyone on night tube spoken to the recruitment team about flexibility during the training period, because a lot of us have other part time jobs hence why we applied for 2 nights a week. I’m keen to avoid using almost all my annual leave on training, and that’s IF my company agrees to let me take 4 weeks of leave.
There is no flexibility for the first two weeks of training - it is classroom based, 9-5 and this is made clear in the advert. The course will not necessarily only be for Night Tube candidates, and even if it was where do you draw the line?
There
may be some flexibility for weeks three and four, as this is live learning on stations, but you won’t know this until you receive your station allocation after you start. If there is flexibility it almost certainly won’t involve solely working two nights a week from the off, and any reduction in the working week during training would almost certainly result in an extended probationary period and, naturally, a longer period of time spent on the training wage.
I’ve said it before on these threads and I’ll no doubt say it again: a job with LU is a significant lifestyle shift for most people, and is a commitment. It’s incredibly rewarding for that, but especially where you have a second job you need to be prepared for that job to be exactly that: second to LUL and it’s business needs.
