No such thing internally. You'd want a depot transfer.

Hi mate, I too applied for JD at Eastleigh a couple of weeks ago but have heard nothing yet. They do say they’ll contact applicants who they wish to invite to the next stage no more than two weeks after the closing date, however there’s no closing date listed?Whats the average wait time from initial application to hearing anything? I applied for JD at Eastleigh - with all my tests passed including DMI with a TOC that I'm now sat in a pool awaiting a course, but no definitive idea of when a course will be available - and then I hear that someone with no tests passed has apparently been invited for an interview for the JD Eastleigh job, but the job is also still being advertised. Makes no sense. Are all TOCs/FOCs this upside down with their recruitment process?
You would need to request a lateral transfer and normally have to complete 3 years service first. Alternatively you can apply for a promotional transfer to mainline at any time. Those were the terms when we had driver operators, not sure whether it’s changed.
I think it’s based on seniority within the company. If the junior driver applying for the promotional transfer to another hub is senior to the junior driver at that hub then they would get the promotion.
I've just moved to South Yorkshire and got the junior job at donny but knottingley is where I would like to end up. But I'm not fussy either way I'm just tightYes there are a lot of factors involved when it comes to transfers. Much easier to start at the hub where you want to work.
There was a question on the application form asking if you’ve passed the assessments and if so, when, so I just entered the information in the relevant boxes. I also attached my CV which contains a wealth of safety critical work experience.Hi mate, I too applied for JD at Eastleigh a couple of weeks ago but have heard nothing yet. This does seem strange, is it an external candidate? I too have all the assessments passed including MMI (the DMI is irrelevant as that’s not part of the assessment process so will have to be reinterviewed anyway by DB). It’s a bit more complicated with me as my tests were passed at different times so I would need to confirm DB can use all my results (I know they can use the MMI and Group Bourdon but the others are 3.5years old).
How did you tell them you’ve passed the assessments? Bearing in mind at this stage of the shortlisting they may not check what you have and haven’t done previously. I followed my application up with an email enquiring but received no reply, I may try them again.

Well done for getting the job. I doubt it will be long before you move on to mainline.I've just moved to South Yorkshire and got the junior job at donny but knottingley is where I would like to end up. But I'm not fussy either way I'm just tight

That’s true, but I’ve heard they’ll be doing mainline rules soon in order to cross between yards in Doncaster. There's at least 5 candidates in front at the moment, 2 now qualified and 3 in training.
I’m sure I didn’t put it on the form? I’m gonna have another look nowThere was a question on the application form asking if you’ve passed the assessments and if so, when, so I just entered the information in the relevant boxes. Yep, the person who’s been invited for interview is also an external candidate and it seems exceptionally odd that they’ve got an interview without having taken and passed the assessments.
I’m half tempted to give recruitment a call.

I don't mind when I become mainline I'm just happy to get a sniff! I'm just hoping I get my course date for 3rd December! Sat waiting for confirmation stillSo they can trip and move locos from shed to Up Decoy etc. However, there's still at least 5 people in front of Heaps92 who are likely to be mainline drivers before him unfortunately. It will happen at some point in the near future though as we're short already.
Didcot is 100 mile from me.
All accommodation and fuel paid for which is cool. 10 weeks mon-fri not seeing the mrs or kids. To some would be a holiday, to me it would be bloody hard but hopefully worth the slog.

Erm noooo?Didn't you start in May?![]()
https://www.freightliner.co.uk/group/careers/careers-in-the-uk/trainee-train-driver-scheme/ For anyone interested Freightliner have just advertised for London area.
It’s in there too, just for anyone who looked at this thread and had missed the opp with DBCMaybe post it in the relevant freightliner thread then?
Makes you sound like the sort of person who’s wife would be glad you went away so it wasn’t assumed she’d be having to cook dinner for you. Lol.Actually having to stay away would be a bonus for me in that I wouldn't have to cook my own dinner! No wife and grown up kids means being away from home is much less of a struggle than it is for some

Hi all, has anyone had any updates on this? It's now seven weeks since I sat the second assessment day and I've not been offered a DMI yet (West Midlands). Before I bother HR (again!) has anyone heard anything?
I had and interview back in September, heard nothing either. I called up last Friday they said they were still hadn't finished all the interviews. It appears they had to re-arrange some and they still haven't finished yet.Nothing. 7 weeks since my DMI. I emailed at the end of last week but haven't received a response.
Yeah I still haven't been offered a DMI..Have you guys applied for the West Midlands hub?I had and interview back in September, heard nothing either.
