Does anybody know when progressing from JD to Mainline driving if it's just a case of having to touch on rules, route and traction knowledge or is it effectively like starting from fresh. So if it's been longer than 5 years, psychometrics would need to be taken again?

As far as I’m aware and from what I know of the industry (not specific to DB), onece you’re a driver grade that’s it in terms of psychometrics (you don’t have to retake them to go mainline), and it’s mainly routes and some more rules in the classroom. A friend of mine who is a depot driver did mention he needed to take more tests similar to the initial psychometric tests every three years though, but I think this is solely for depot drivers and not sure if it’s an industry-wide practice or just my TOC?

Progression will more than likely be on seniority (time served in grade).

You'll then likely have to return to the classroom and do your mainline rules, then your mainline handling hours.

Yes, what are the shifts? And when can I start putting annual leave requests in? Don't start while next year but wouldn't mind sorting holidays out

Mountsorrel, Toton, Nottingham Station, Cliffe Hill Stud Farm and Leicester are all booking on points for East Mids mainline drivers. Not knowing all the work they do, my guess would be you'll be based at Toton.

South Yorkshire shifts are cushty. 07.05 to 16.45 or 17.45 or 07.30 to 15.30 at weekends (day depending) at Doncaster. 09.15 to 17.45 at Rotherham and 06.30 ish to 12.10 / 12.00 to 19.55 at Tinsley.

You can't book annual leave until you've passed out. You should be asked what leave you have booked and that will be accommodated (except if it's in training school time).

If you start in Jan, I'd suggest booking some leave for post April or May, because then you can get your training done.

I think depending on the need for drivers I was told at Interview that as a junior driver you could roll straight through if there was a need for it. What this means exactly in terms of a timeframe I don't know.

Consistent with Db... no-one replies!!
Im in exactly the same position as you tz....I think we may have done stage 2 at the same time (19th Sept am?)
I emailed db last week asking for an update I have had no reply as yet.

They're the agreed times for the shifts. Usually done like that as other jobs are done to the minute, so you're not getting credited an hour between say 15.00 and 16.00, when you finish at 15.03.

I didn't offer any advice. I'd change your attitude if you want to work for DB. With that sort of attitude, your career will be short lived.

How long did people wait after the medicals for some sort of confirmation of either the medical being successful or a start date? Obviously I understand there could be a while before a course becomes available.

I found out the day after my medical and got a start date week later

Please advise on the roles that were advertised across the country in case you may know, like Dartford .. Would you still be placed in a talent pool or positions are indeed coming up? I have made it through to the 1st assessment to be done in Reading..

And also, where are you actually based if your chosen location on the application was Dartford?

Has anybody else who had the passes of the assessments still current had an invite from the vacancies a couple of months ago? can anyone advise of the likely questions at interview? I know roughly what to expect as I’ve had a few, but any pointers would be great, thanks!

I interviewed for a JD role last week, apart from the normal why this job? Why DB? What do you know about us? The interview is all competency based, name a time you had too........ They send out example questions that don't differ from the real ones too much, then I just done what research I could on their website. My interview seemed to go really well.
