Karl, I fear you are quite wrong on this. Credit crunch was coined by someone to describe the lack of credit offered by the banks and which caused difficulties for business, both small and large. The inability to get credit that could be used to cover short term cash flow difficulties and day to day business fluctuations caused a lot of businesses to go bust. This led to a recession, the description of which is defined, and this was recorded by news media informing us that we had entered recession, and subsequently come out of recession.
As to words being forgotten, you did originally say that language and words were being deliberately killed off by government, which is quite a difference comapred to the natural evolution of a language that is normal and ongoing. The rate of change in the English language has increased due to mass media and improved communication, but this change has been going on for all time. In fact, what is English? When did it start? It wasn't created, it evolved slowly from a wide variety of sources and developed through the centureis. Hence it should be no surprise that it is still developing.
You are entitled to your opinions. That does not them correct. Charlie Brooker has his own views, but one of his main objectives is to entertain. If you don't like certain words, use words you feel more comfortable, but I object to anyone, government, council, or person, trying to tell me what words are good/right and what words are bad/wrong. That is completely different to society as a whole accepting that the use of certain words and phrases are no longer desirable.
