Taken around 1996/97 at Old oak common ( pic marked as 43018 )
I'm guessing it was involved in the Southall crash but thought the power car had more damage
Looks like it's hit something fairly substatial that was on the track, but off to the left a bit, judging by the damage.
Anyway, just get a bit of T-cut on it and it'll be fine.

I'm sure now that it's from the Royal Oak crash mentioned above by theblackwatch. If I get a chance I'll have a look to see if I've still got issues of Modern Railways from then, which may possibly identify the power car.
There's no need to identify the power car, the OP did that in the initial post but then bizarrely further down asked which one it was! :???:
It can only be one of two as only three have been written off, one in FGW livery, so I'm guessing this is the one involved in the Southall crash, Ladbroke Grove practically destroyed it so it can't be that.
some of XC`s power cars were in a condition like this!, goes to show how much affort they put in, I think 43121 was the one that had to be re-built
The PC in the first pic looks to have buffers (well, looks like it had them), but then that pic of the 158 damage, you can see mounts for the buffers as the bottom skirt has been demolished!
If this was the result of a collision at Royal Oak in 1995 the thing that hit it must have also scraped the side as there is a rip in the bodywork.
This has me stumped, whichever power car it is is still in service so it wasn't written off. The yellow roof would suggest it was one of the power cars converted into DVTs, or were they all painted yellow?
