I'm surprised they aren't running some kind of IET operated shuttle to Basingstoke from Reading either, even if Waterloo is now out of the equation there will still no doubt be a case of Change at Reading for services too Basingstoke / Waterloo. And it's not as if the IETs cant run down here either...

Not at the moment it isnt.
This is a slightly shorter one, they will be longer in the years to come, but not massively.
No it's not, passengers to from the Cotswold Line will be advised to change at Oxford to/from Chiltern, which is established practice in recent years, while Cotswold Line IETs will most likely run to/from Reading.

How will GWR ensure connections from Reading to the South West/South Wales if these are skipping Reading?Are you sure about that? I’d heard it’s 1tph Euston-Swansea via Bristol and 1tph Euston-Plymouth. This might have changed though.
Incidentally just typing those routes felt bizarre!

Who says they are skipping Reading? That’s not how I read it at least.
Not sure whether it’d be feasible to path that; currently there are generally two Turbos per hour, plus a XC in either direction as well as plenty of freight. The Turbos usually sit in the bay at Basing for around 20 minutes or so between trips, and I don’t know if there’d be sufficient capacity in the through platforms for an additional service to terminate however often it was running?

Isn't the Contactless fare to London Zone 1-6 rather than specifically Paddington?
Most likely to carry the mixed mode premium because you can't get from Euston to the Great Western Main Line without using TfL services.
There is nothing to stop someone travelling Euston (NR) - Queens Park - Paddington (Bakerloo) - Paddington (Elizabeth Line) - Reading to find out the current fare for Euston to Reading with no intermediate touches.
I would be concerned about hitting a maximum journey tome before you managed that though...
I don't think it would get anywhere close. Even Paddington to Reading is allowed 2 hours 30 minutes before hitting the maximum journey time, and Euston to Queens Park to Paddington is easily achieved in 30 minutes.

However, that's as places reachable by LMS/LNWR somehow (Swansea Victoria via Shrewsbury) and Tenby via Shrewsbury and Llandeilo- Carmarthen, the latter with running on GWR for the last miles

Times for 17th November now up on RTT - and they are skipping Reading
Nothing showing for December yet: on the contrary, a normal service to Paddington is shown.

How long is this going on for?
I'm assuming it's only a few weekends
How are people supposed to travel from Reading to the South West if the Penzance services skip Reading? That's ridiculous
At least with Bristol services there are alternatives

Thgere will be other services to the West Country starting at Reading. You may need to change at Exeter or Plymouth

The alternative is a time penalty and cramming onto a short Voyager from Bristol onwards

I think diversions to Waterloo/Marylebone have taken place in the past when there was a more substantial closure on the GWML, requiring trains to divert away further west. As it's only a shorter section nearer Paddington that is closed, it's a lot more direct to go into Euston, compared to diverting at Reading/Didcot to get to Waterloo/Marylebone.
Is there any platform capacity to terminate some trains at Ealing Broadway? Might be easier for passengers to connect there for the tube, particularly with the limited paths available into Euston.

Not to mention the fact that IETs are not passed for London Marylebone...
Ealing Broadway has to support the termination of Elizabeth Line services.

You misunderstand me. RTT for 27th to 29th December shows no Gwr trains on and out of Euston - but plenty to and from Paddington.

There are stops at Reading and Ealing Broadway, but for staffing purposes only.
Looks like P1/2 at Euston, and 20-25 minutes between Euston and Ealing B.
2tph most of the day, alternating Bristol Parkway/South Wales and the south west (including the sleeper).
There is one early up train from Oxford, and an early starter/late terminator at Reading.
All using the GW Relief lines between Acton and Dolphin Jn.

A couple of North Pole-Euston ECS do a double shuffle via the WLL with reversals at Kensington Olympia and Willesden SW Sidings.

RTT is just showing the normal base timetable for those days. It doesn't mean that is what is going to run as the actual amended timetable hasn't been confirmed yet.

Presumably the trains Euston bound will be needing to stop somewhere to pick up pilot drivers, I had assumed that would happen at Reading. Will this occur at Taunton and Swindon? Surely not, perhaps a stop at Acton Mainline?
Looks to be about 2-hourly, which for a Saturday in mid November may not be a disaster.
Unfortunately there is a block West of Axminster the same day....

Note that GWR and Network Rail seem to be very inconsistent in which days of the week they choose to disrupt.
I am not aware of anything that details all these to allow the travelling public to advance plan their trips around the work.
