166205 still has its first class mixed up/mis-labelled. 166210 has no internal first class signage or any other indicators at all at either end of the unit (including no anti-macassars) and 166211 has no anti-macassars at all in its first class section (but has window stickers). Various other units lack some or most of their anti-macassars, and the same applies to their window stickers.

I notice this frequently on these units, I like to sit in the declass as it's a little cosier, but I've got to say with all the confusing inconsistencies I sometimes don't know if I'm in first or not!

Exactly - for the passengers it's a complete mess. It really can't be so hard to fit the stickers and headrest covers properly. Getting the vestibule doors to work properly, on the other hand, seems to be impossible!
The NDL slows have no first class, but I have never heard a single announcement to this effect (or any other publicity other than the timetable column headers (at least two of which were wrong anyway!) since it was introduced in October 2015. Instead of just repeating the recorded announcements, why can't the guards announce this useful snippet of information? I suppose the parlous state of the first class labelling would make this even more confusing. I wonder how many times, when the afflicted units are used on the Gatwicks, and ticket checks occur, disputes arise about whether an area is or isn't first class.

It is certainly looking dirty already, although the trees and bushes on the Newquay line were doing their best to wipe the sides clean.
Who thought it was a good idea to put white numbers on the white sides?

The "stuck record" continues to play, I'm afraid - 166211, as I noted from my journey this morning, has its only internal first class ID as two small window stickers (out of four windows). No anti-macassars, no working vestibule doors - nothing significant to indicate first class. This does not only affect first class ticket holders - it affects other passengers who might want to find a seat, but cannot be sure whether they will be contravening rules.
To those who claim that the only thing of importance is to keep the trains running (are the 166s really so close to collapsing?), I must say that the passengers (remember them?) have little or no chance of being able to tell whether they are in first class or not on the 166 fleet. Is this the image that GWR, with its very high profile publicity campaign about service and style, wants to project?
It's a mess, the like of which even Southern have not descended to. There appears to be no quality control or the will to impose such. If it needs more staff to sort out this branding disaster, then employ them.

In the same vein as who'd have thought white would be a lovely clean livery for a Sprinter? It's not like we've seen this before... cough.
Just be thankful though that it's not leaf fall season, that white would very quickly be turning to brown. Which in some kind of Ironic way, would suit 'GWR', seeing as they like using that / green & grey now.

No window stickers and no anti-macassars. The fleet is easily the worst I have ever encountered for its appalling labelling.

Probably either to OOC, St Phillips Marsh or Laira depots no doubt. More than likely the latter id reckon.
Is it going back into service with 8 normal mark 3s then? For some reason I'd assumed the two power cars sent to Doncaster would be paired with the prototype power-door short set and not return until the coaches are done and tested. Thinking about it now though, even if the coaches are ready it makes sense they would come back to Laira for testing on the GW network rather than being tested 'remotely' as new trains seem to be.

Plan as at last Dec was for the first set to undergo extensive testing before the second set gets done. The 0600 ex Penzance diagram already identified as possible. Forgotten what the timescale is and plan may have already changed.
