How disappointing. Whether you like the GBR livery or hate it, if the 159s continue to come out freshly done up in SWR livery it’s just more money wasted and a longer time to reach a consistent look.
It isn't wasted money. Wasting money would be to switch the paint scheme earlier in the programme after materials have been procured for the first sets. This is a repaint that has to be done regardless of what colours are used.
As a graphic designer, it would depend on whether the budget is available to produce the detailed artwork for the new graphics and probably printing the new vinyl wraps.
The first few units are being done in SWR, because the paint has been ordered and all that, and then the rest is going to be in GBR. If the SWR paint was wasted in favour of GBR, it would be more consistent, but wouldn't exactly be aligned with the whole 'we're not wasting money on repainting trains that don't need it' thing DFTO is going for.
No, it's not. The poster said it's for ScotRail in a comment, and their post history makes it pretty clear that they're Scottish.
You'd need to find someone wanting to buy surplus railway vehicle paint in those colours, for a start. I can't imagine that would be easy.

Although I think the plan is to relivery most only when they need it, there’s supposedly to be one done for each TOC as it gets renationalised.
It's easy to see how folk can be misled, whilst it does say it's for ScotRail (and it reads like they're part of the paint team) the rest of the thread is people asking if its GBR and folk replying "Yeah, yeah, its GBR"...
Except WM are now refreshing the livery for class 172s into a revised WM livery. Three cars first and you would think the middle vehicle could wear the GBR livery but no. So its clearly not a rebrand as and when relivery happens.
It’ll be interesting to see a Class 68, the first locomotive, in GBR livery. I suppose that that stock is new to Chiltern, which is a good news story, but I’m a bit surprised that Chiltern is the next TOC to get the livery, given the controversy over East West Rail - I had thought that the Class 196s that they’ll be running on it would get the livery when it opens - though I guess that Chiltern will pass into GBR hands soon, sooner than East West Rail will open, so I guess they want there to be a newly-reliveried train for their transfer. I was just thinking about starting a new thread in Speculative Discussion about which locomotive would be the first to get GBR livery, but it’s been obviated by events.
There’s a suggestion that the West Midlands will keep a local identity though.
I mean, I don't think any GBR-to-be TOCs have locos other than Chiltern, right? I guess LNER has the 91s but given their age and impending replacement, I don't think they're going to get the livery anyway. By that measure, it would have to be a Chiltern 68.
