Same here in Plymouth GA Citybus have cancellations but Stagecoach seem to have extra to cover the few closed services there are.

Haven't Stagecoach SW withdrawn some of their closed services anyway, with PCB replacing them?

Still, and repeating myself, you have Go Cornwall Bus with insufficient drivers for what they currently have. Cornwall Council could ask for additional school services but GCB simply wouldn't be able to crew them even should they have the fleet available.

Whether Cornwall Council have approached any of the smaller operators to see if they have any capability doesn't appear to be clear. It does appear from this https://www.cornwall.gov.uk/media/44278895/school-children-only-routes-table-10.pdf that in most instances, CC have instituted additional school services where possible.

I see TfC on Facebook have announced the imminent arrival of the new fleet. Hopefully the single decks as well as doubles will have been built to order rather than the very basic dealer stock that's arrived so far.

That's the same for every operator tho, even when Kernow announce something new there is always people who complain that their local route uses old buses when everyone else gets new ones, or why don't they lower their prices etc.

You can't please everyone unfortunately, although we will see if the next batch is better than the first

That's the problem with the very short timescale that was imposed; they had to get what they could in terms of dealer stock. I doubt that it will be as luxurious as the new EY/GNE stock but hopefully, it'll be up to a decent standard.

I was too, certainly the impression I got from reports, but looked like they changed their minds

Which is what I suspected. I didn't think the announcement of more new buses would be controversial in itself! More that it was a means of complaining about something else.

Sadly, it happens everywhere. There will be some genuine comments with a proper axe to grind and then people who either have an agenda or just like muck raking.

I don't know whether it's still the case, but there used to be a premium for the City bodywork. Probably to do with the strengthening required around the glazed staircase.

Are the vehicles being purchased by the council?

I thought in the case of Kernow, all the e400mmc were bought and specified by First Kernow with no council involvement. They then had the e200mmc of which four were Kernow purchased and the remainder were council owned but all specified by FK.

It might be a) the report of City400 was erroneous or b) that e400mmc is for Plymouth not Cornwall or c) they have changed their mind. Certainly, the e400city that First Bristol have got some issues in terms of build quality; as @baza585 wittily said the other week, the e400city in Southampton "creak like an old barge"

In the reveal video they did say we have bought high spec buses just like these (was the plymouth city bus enviro 400 citys) and they said they would have WiFi and usbs.
But they did say on facebook that new buses were coming to plymouth and cornwall, I though this would be they go to milehouse for tfc branding and then going to cornwall, but maybe there is some also been ordered for plymouth to replace the 06 plate enviros/ damaged deckers

It good there 70 plates but I do feel like becuase there 400 mmc and they are nearly the same shade of red as the tinners there will be confusion.

I assumed that the council were buying GCB's fleet, I knew Hopley's, Travel Cornwall and OTS were privately buying theirs, but thinking about it if GCB lost the TfC work at the next renewal then they would lose nearly all their fleet thus limiting any commercial work they could do in the future, so maybe like Kernow ownership is split between the two?

I agree, suppose this time it's an entire new fleet compared to the relatively small fleet last time, not sure GCB would be comfortable using nearly an entire fleet of loaned buses

The leasing company model would unlikely work in the bus world, and can't see CC wanting to fund an entire fleet for one of the countries biggest bus companies
