On reflection, probably best to put this one to bed. There's the Cuban Solenodon; and its "middling-close" relative the Hispaniolan Solenodon, dwelling on the island of Hispaniola, second-biggest of the West Indies, just east of Cuba, shared by Haiti and the Dominican Republic. Haiti has a very few of these beasts; there's a fair number of them in the Dom. Rep., but as mentioned in previous post, they keep an extremely low profile.
