If I may.

Continuing with a sporting theme, what is Lee Todd's claim to fame?

I remember this - infamous incident - fastest red card in history a record that remains to this day - something silly like less than 10 seconds or thereabouts.

No, it was quicker than that - 2 seconds apparently. Full story below. https://www.sportbible.com/football...fastest-red-card-in-football-history-20211031

On 31st October 2000, during a clash between local rivals Cross Farm Park Celtic and Taunton East Reach Wanderers, the fastest red card since records began was brandished by no-nonsense referee Peter Kearle, just seconds into the game.

"You've got to be kidding me?" said a stunned Todd after the card was given. Looking back, it was a completely fair reaction. The incident played out just moments after both teams entered the field of play.

"We were about to kick-off and the referee reminded us about swearing like he normally did," Todd told SPORTbible. "And as he walked past me, he blew the whistle for kick-off but blew it right in my ear.

"I bent down, muttered "**** me, ref, that was loud!" and the next thing I knew, I had a red card in my face."

Just two seconds in and Kearle had given the Cross Farm Park Celtic striker his marching orders, citing 'foul and abusive language' as the reason behind his early bath.

The 22-year-old was fined £27 and banned for 35 days for the "**** me, that was loud!" comment.

"I let him know that he nearly burst my eardrum." Lee, now 42, says. "I was like, 'are you are taking the ****' and he said 'no, you're off. You've just sworn and I told you not to.'

"Before the game, he said any swearing was unacceptable but all I did was bend down, with my head in my hands, and just shouted. That's all I did. It wasn't directed towards him. I was just swearing to myself.

"I thought he was just taking the mick."

Your turn to blow the whistle (but not too loudly!)

Two (factual) cities of great renown: have been the subjects of, non-fiction, books -- by different authors; published in this century -- titled *****: The Biography (an affectation which annoys me -- biographies are about people, for heaven's sake); anyway -- please name the two cities concerned here. "Virtual bonus points" for author names.

Just for interest, Walter Boyd of Swansea achieved the marvellous feat of being sent off after zero seconds, albeit as a substitute. He entered the pitch, got involved in a fracas before play restarted, elbowed an opponent and got sent off. They then took the throw im and got on with the game. Sadly I can’t find a video of it

Yes, that's one -- and that is indeed the author (he writes London-centred fiction too). Now seeking the other ...

Not Rome, I'm afraid; but another place of big religious significance -- that for, very broadly, "our lot" rather than "their lot".

I'm afraid not, unless it's the same person who wrote the song, William Blake, but I guess it isn't...!!!

No -- old William was a couple of centuries too early, I fear...

Looks like we're at the end of the road here. Author of the Jerusalem book (publ. 2011) is Simon Sebag Montefiore.

@Gloster: you gave -- unprompted by setter -- correct city and author for one of the two; so you get to write the next Biography (please, not about anything that isn't a human being <D).

OK -- animals also -- it's really just "biographies" of bloody cities, that winds me up: over-reaction, maybe.

See below

That's correct (Papua New Guinea is only half of the island of New Guinea), your turn...
That's shrinkflation for you. ;)

OK, I didn't expect to get the floor here, ... so before 1962, where were there 6 stations in a sequence all beginning with the same letter?
