That would be a long-ass, dark journey from North Cheam up to Bank, or wherever - and isn't it basically full? Yes some are the feed, but regardless I don't see the Northern going more southern, even with a full Camden split jobby and 32tph or whatever.

Low density out there too - better to build massive TODs at Morden, Tooting and so forth. Wimbledon, Lewisham and other well-connected hubs, especially high frequency places south without much tube penetration, should resemble Coruscant in time.

When the Northern line extension to Sutton was scrapped several decades ago, the site at North Cheam station was sold off and redeveloped (probably similar with the other stations as well). Absolutely fat chance of the idea actually coming back.

As I said earlier, Northern Line Extension is absolutely dead and buried. (Even a cheap extension just to Morden South alone isn't feasible, as the need to relocate the depot tanked the Cost-Benefit ratio.)

Besides, even if it was going to happen, it wouldn't happen this side of the Northern line split, which requires Camden to be rebuilt - it would be many decades away, if it even happened.

This is why TfL are proposing the tram to Sutton instead, because it's cheaper and far more feasible.

While this isn't Underground as such but could TfL take the Grays-Upminster line as part of the Overground. They have done wonders for the Romford branch by incorporating it so this seems like a good next step. Run into Platform 1A (or renumber the platform so its logical)

It wouldn't make much sense to do this as the Grays-Upminster branch is operated as an integral part of C2C, with through services on the branch as well as Shuttles. Romford-Upminster is an awkward self-contained operation off the GEML that doesn't really fit quite right with any operator (District line, GA, or Elizabeth Line) so it gets folded into LO as its own thing.
