The 2 circuits coming up that will probably decide the title are Monza and Singapore. The Red Bull should go very well at the former, but as Monaco showed, the car isn't suited to tight and twisty street circuits, so a good result at the latter will be a big bonus for Verstappen.

Williams were talking to Mercedes about using Mick Schumacher for the rest of the season. Obviously they think they still have enough money spare for repairs!

Crikey! I'd have thought they'd be better off asking Red Bull for a loan of Liam Lawson, though taking of Mercedes maybe Toto would lend Kimi Antonelli so they could gauge how he handles F1 for real?

From what I saw on the BBC website, Mercedes don't want Antonelli to race just yet, instead concentrating on their test program, while Red Bull don't want Lawson to drive for Williams, as there is doubts over the futures of both Perez and Ricciardo.

After the crash at Zandvoort, team principal James Vowles went to speak to Mercedes boss Toto Wolff and Red Bull's Christian Horner about the availability of some of the drivers on their roster.

But Red Bull reserve driver Liam Lawson might not have been available for all the remaining races as uncertainty hangs over the futures of both Sergio Perez at Red Bull and Daniel Ricciardo at second team RB.

At Mercedes, team boss Toto Wolff said at the Dutch Grand that he had decided their Italian protege Andrea Kimi Antonelli, who is expected to race for the team next year, should not have his preparations in Mercedes test cars disrupted.

And Williams had already turned down Mercedes reserve driver Mick Schumacher last winter, preferring to keep Sargeant.

So Vowles decided to stick with the team's young driver programme, and promote Colapinto for what will be a nine-race cameo.

Good news for Williams. As much as I loved Logan’s lack of kilometre knowledge, this new kid deserves his chance to impress, in case Albon or Sainz finds a route out in a couple of years.

Sargeant wa son borrowed time. You cant smash up the car time and again AND be useless compared to your team mate and survive even if you do bring in lots of coin.

Same here - plus you can hardly sack one driver for smashing up the car and then employee a proven car smasher! Also I don't think Antonelli was an option. I am not sure he is ready.

My initial thoughts were that Toto would entertain a Williams loan but Antonelli wants to see out his F2 season. Personally I’d have given him next year at Williams but I recognise that Carlos and Albon was a pairing they couldn’t miss out on

The fact they didn't worries me - if he is the coming man why not give him a shot as an experience builder for the rest of the year?

Didn't there used to be a rule about not setting a time in qualifying that the other teams had to agree to the driver being allowed to take part in the race also? Is that rule still in place?

It's still in place, but it hasn't been enforced for over 10 years. The stewards generally just let people race, as there's no real reason to enforce it unless a driver is absolutely horrible and hasn't come anywhere near the 107% at some point during the weekend.

From interviews, Antonelli has seemed slightly unconfident so I think he wanted a full year in F2. F4 to F1 in half a season is a daunting prospect for anyone, never mind a 17-18yo

Missed opportunity for McLaren and Lando Norris today. Verstappen could only finish 6th, but for whatever reason, Norris and Piastri were not switched around on the final lap.

Great strategy from Ferrari though to get the win.

1 final note. Very poor from Channel 4 today. The highlights program was only an hour, actual highlights didn't start until 10 minutes it, and were completed after 30 minutes, which included 3 advert breaks.

I think they were trying to pretend that they couldn't delay any paralympic coverage by 30 minutes!

Also Piastri was a bit punchy with Norris but it is clear McLaren don't have any teams orders beyond "papaya rules" aka ffs don't crash into each other. I find that odd as Norris has a chance ( slim but possible ) of winning the drivers championship.

I pay for Sky for the cricket, so F1 is a bonus, but its coverage is good - I can't watch C4 any more because I can't tolerate the presenter, maybe like my aversion to snails, I used to be fine but can't eat them any more. He's unwatchable to me.

However the Sky cricket coverage is more and more about T20 and The Hundred and I don't like these formats either, so perhaps I'll stop paying, and then F1 will go out of the window too.

A middle ground I've managed to be satisfied with is to share a NowTV sports subscription with two other friends. The boost add-on allows three simultaneous streams (in HD) and the monthly cost of the subscription works out at about £11/month for each of us, which is an amount I find tolerable.

I genuinely think letting the two of them race cost McLaren a 1-2 yesterday. Norris stuck behind Leclerc led to the early stop, the early stop led to a 2-stop race. Fair play to Leclerc for making the 1-stop work despite stopping the lap after Norris and the lap before Piastri, a very impressive drive given how Sainz's newer tyres dropped off more quickly.

That 1-2 becoming a 2-3 cost them 10 points and after Monza they're only 8 points behind Red Bull.

I don't blame Piastri for getting punchy but I can't believe 'papaya rules' aren't that whoever leads into the first corner isn't challenged.

As for Norris, he needs to be more ruthless. Hamilton and Verstappen would both have yeeted a team-mate into the wall if they'd tried that on them.

As for the TV coverage, when I want to watch I find a dodgy stream which I'm sure is using my laptop to mine for Monero or Dogecoin or something. I'd rather give my money to Vladimir Putin than Rupert Murdoch; Putin is less evil.

agreed but it should be Piastri, you have 2 jobs: 1) make sure Verstappen is behind you at all times and 2) get the car to the flag. We want both championships.

I am sure they have been told very firmly that McLaren want 2 cars home. Verstappen absolutely would have his team mate off but RB aren't worried about the constructors title. It was nice when Norris gave him it back a bit as Verstappen has got away for too long with yield or crash tactics.
