Which multiplies the visibility issues.
If the car is not aquaplaning, the amount of water displaced should be about the same. The deeper tread tyres would probably displace less water by having more gaps for the water to fit within it.

As suspected by many, Kimi has announced he is retiring at the end of the season.

Looks like the driver market is starting to fall into place, although not with quite the same ”bang” as in 2020. Reportedly, the reason for Mercedes delaying their own driver announcement was so that Alfa R. can announce Bottas during the Monza weekend.

Kimi Räikkönnen has tested positive for COVID-19. Alfa Romeo have reported that he is displaying no symptoms, so at least that’s good news.

He will be replaced by Robert Kubica (Alfa Romeo reserve driver) for the rest of the weekend.

Thank goodness Max won, it probably would have been the biggest come down for that crowd ever otherwise.

BTW did Ted Kravitz visit a cafe in Amsterdam this morning before he did his pit walk? I enjoyed Nico's... er... admission.

Are you able to expand, or are you inferring something NSFF [Not Safe For Forum]?

Well he said that early in his career he used to pee in his car before a race. Ugh.
Did you not see the interview where Rosberg confessed to the use of female sanitary products?

[For context, this wasn't a conventional use, rather to keep sweat out of his eyes.]

Nelson Piquet(Senior) was notorious for urinating in his race car, much to the annoyance of his mechanics.

Thing is, if it's *in* the car you're not getting the weight savings...
Does one save weight by passing wind?

It’s finally been announced, Valtteri Bottas heading for Alfa Romeo next year.
Announced on the Formula 1 Twitter page.
Good to see Bottas has been signed on a multi-year contract. He’s a solid driver even if he (sadly) didn’t match up to Hamilton in the end.

I look forward to seeing who will fill the second Alfa and Williams seats.

And, if you’ve read Steve Matchett’s autobiography, worse still…
I haven't read that, but I assume this is referring to the case where a driver had the runs mid-race and an unsupecting superfan then wouldn't take no for an answer when offering to buy the overalls after the race in question for his collection...?

Nothing quite as serious. Piquet Sr. reportedly had a ”party trick” of being able to flatulate on demand; useful when a mechanic was busy working away between the driver’s legs…

Pity the regs probably wouldn't have allowed a hole in the drivers seat fitted to a duct (call it the F-duct) so the driver's wind could be used to help propel the car.

Hamilton-Russell partnership. Toto is going to have to work hard to keep that harmonious, yet I have a feeling that when it works it is going to be impressive ... Mr Saturday is going to take the race to Hamilton on Sunday.
