Atletico Madrid, after selling Sergo Aguero to Manchester City, have moved extremely quickly to sign the very experianced 25 year old Colombian striker Radamal Falcao from FC Porto for 40 million euros, which could rise to 47 million euros with add-ons.
He scored 38 goals last season to help FC Porto to win the treble of the Portugese League, the Portuguese Cup and the Europa League (in which he became the record scorer in a UEFA club competition with 17 goals, beating the previous record of 15 goals held by Jurgen Klinsman). He has made 31 appearances for Colombia, scoring 9 goals.
I wonder why no British club made an offer for such a player with a proven striking ability at the highest level, as there did not seem any difficulty in Atletico Madrid getting FC Porto to agree to the transfer in a matter of a few days notice.

NEWS FROM OLD TRAFFORD
Nemanja Vidic, who was taken off with an injury to his leg against W.B.A. as a precaution against aggrevating it, has had a medical which has revealed a calf muscle problem. He will be out of the team for up to five weeks, similar to Rio Ferdinand, who will be having his medical later this afternoon. With Raphael being out for up to 10 weeks, it will be interesting to see how the younger defenders cope with the situation.
