Agree about Arsenal's defending being "shambolic" They were very lucky that Manchester United did not score 14 goals today, such was their dominance.

Manchester United are on the way up. They're already playing a classier game than last season. And of course, Arsenal have lost the plot. With Jenkinson's red card, unless Gibbs recovers quickly they're going to find someone to play at full-back with Sagna before their next game.
I think Man U and Man City could both have a chance of toppling Barca this season.

When Arsenal play their next game, they should ask the referee which player is going to be sent off, that way way they can take the player off before the game even starts.
As for losing 8-2 what can one say? I cant swear on here so will say nothing.
It is all well and good trying to please UEFA and putting your club in profit by not spending a penny, i mean who the F*** would want to come to a club in total disaray.
Arsenal have become a total joke, every club is spending millions of pounds they dont have to strengthen their teams, whilst we are the only club operating in the black and it bloody shows, buying players at 16 or 17 not ready yet, selling the club captain, selling your midfield to a rival, put your prices up and what for, to see total annialation. I never thought that i would say this but i would consider the strength in depth that we have (which is nothing by the way) that we could have the biggest stadium in the championship for the 2012-13 season, i am being bloody serious, no one will come to us before the window shuts on Wednesday so we will plood along losing games because we are putting faith in a team of 17 year olds, and players who are frankly not good enough. If players are not being watched by Man Utd or Chelsea then they are not good enough, so way the are we buying them.
This result makes me ashamed to be an Arsenal support at this time.
Words at this time can not sum up how i feel.

7 days is a long time in football let alone 7 years!
Oh how i wish for those halcyon days at Highbury. Its never been right since the move to the new stadium (well not so new now).
There is something drastically wrong at the club at the moment, i remember a time when players wanted to come to Arsenal, now they look at Arsenal and think 'Do they think i am that bloody stupid that i will sign for a club like Arsenal'
The board have a lot to answer for, they have been silent all through the summer apart from saying yes 'Wenger has got money and Arsenal will buy players' If we buy anyone now it smacks of desperation and that is exactly what it will be. We might as as well plood along until January and maybe get a player on loan. They way we are you would think we was the club in debt upto the tune of £500,000,000. not a club with a operating surplus.

A bit like Juve in Italy, they had Nedved, Trezeguet, Del Piero, and until the mid-00s, and it all went downhill. Them and Arsenal were CLQFs every year almost guaranteed, and now look at both of them, Juve are the Italian equivalent of Spurs at the best (i.e. top 7). Quite sad really. Barry Town were Welsh champions in year in year out throughout the 90s. In 2003 they fell to pieces and were relegated. They now struggle in the Welsh second tier...

On any other day, this would have been the headlines as it showed that Tottenham Hotspur have had a strange "league" start to the season. Their first match at home to Everton was cancelled due to the outbreak of mass criminality at the time of the London riots, when their ground was classified as being in a crime scene perimeter, followed by an away match at Manchester United where they lost by a margin of 3 - 0. Not the best preparation for this match and noting that they wanted to make a strong start to the season, to enhance their aim of a top four position and entry into next season's Champions League.
Manchester City have a very strong squad and have strengthened certain positions by signings in the close season transfer market. Dzeko seems to have gradually found his feet in British football, following his goal at Wembley. He must have been delighted to have scored four goals, away from home, in what could have been a difficult match for him.

Aren't West Brom in the black?
Notwithstanding that I see Arsenal's problem as trying to vie for the title every season when a more realistic goal would be European football. Clubs are not judged on how good they actually are but against where they're supposed to be which is decided by previous seasons and media hype. As a Villa fan for example I'd be satisfied with a top half finish and even a Europa League place will be niceDon't think you had much choice there. Players (and to a lesser degree agents) rule clubs these days and seems that it's only by the good grace of such players that they stay.
IMO Arsenal (and with many other clubs) need to recreate club loyalty and I think the best way to do that is to go through the youth team and get local players on the books who've supported you all their life.

On another topic here is the England squad for the international break. Not much to say about it of course but is it a sign of the times that nearly half the squad is Manchester based? Only six are not based in London or Manchester.

Newcastle are in the top six or something now, but I can guarantee it won't last!I completely agree. They don't have nearly enough 'nasty', hard-tackling players to win the league. Gerrard said in his autobiography that Liverpool couldn't win the league because they didn't have enough agressive Englishmen, and it's the same with Arsenal - if you want to win the PL, you need people like Scott Parker. (But not like Scott Parker). Liverpool, though, did well in Europe because they had a lot of fancy attacking players who got plenty of time on the ball in Europe. This could be the same for Arsenal, especially since they play such an elegant passing game.

Nice to see a few Villa fans on here - I've got a season ticket and manage to get to every home game plus the odd away one, mainly in London.
Do any of you (Villa) have any sort of set up where you travel together to any of the away games?
Agree with the above post re Arsenal, can't believe he's not gone after a tough midfielder - can understand Parker as he's the age when Wenger won't offer a decent contract, but he's going to have to pull something out of the bag by the end of tomorrow I think.
Lucky old me, I had Rooney as my captain in the fantasy football, a very pleasing 28 points from him alone - lovely.

Owen Hargreaves seems to want to restart his career at Manchester City, but based upon the fact that he will be behind the many new squad players that have been added in terms of possible team selection, plus his questionable injury record, it seems to be a mission doomed to failure.
Would be a silly move for him, Man City have the probably the strongest squad in the league. Hargreaves would find himself in the reserves soon enough.
